The ‘smarter way’ of becoming HR Business Partner… what positions should I start with? Titles that help you gain needed experiance? Any suggestions? Recommendation?

I’m a CPA (tho never worked in audit/tax) and do finance/accounting technology implementations. I’m beginning to look at exit opps but not sure where to start. What are some logical next steps or types of roles I should be looking at? Corporate Finance? FDD? FP&A?

Currently a Wealth Advisor for Citi but I honestly hate it here with a passion it’s the worst company I’ve ever worked for in my life and I’ve been in Wealth Management in the banking channel for over a decade. Series 7, Series 63, Life, CFP, ChFC, and soon to have my MBA with a focus in Mergers & Acquisitions. Is it bad to ask a recruiter to put me in the running for a totally different role, alongside the role that I'm semi far along in the running for? The roles are within different companies that share a parent company that the recruiter works for. I've had 2 interviews for the initial role (1 with the recruiter, 1 with the person who would be my boss), and have a 3rd scheduled in the new year. Looking for some perspective: we just got a brand new $2,000 glass top 78" dining table. I asked my husband to please use a table cloth when he uses that table for d&d with his friends to avoid scratches and the loud dice on the table. He got upset that I "don't let him enjoy our stuff," that I "hate the sound of him having fun," and he says I am being unreasonable.
