I’m thinking of picking up a few freelance projects to make the most out of our everlasting WFH situation. Does anyone have a freelance site they like and would recommend? There’s so many at this point, curious as to what everyone else is using and what kinds of projects you’ve been able to find.

I hear of UX/Product designers that make 120k out of school and recruiters are throwing out numbers even greater than that. No visibility into what my coworkers are making so I’m here.
I have 8 years of design experience in addition to design education, 3 of those years are in UX/Product design. I’m making $102k, med/vis/dental, up to 6% 401k match, unlimited PTO and options worth ~10k vested in a couple years. Bonus last year was ~10%. NYC startup.

Started at big law when I was 26 - thinking I can try work till 50 in big law (aiming for no more than 2000/2100 a year) and then retire. Feasible? Plan to have two kids and we live in nyc. (I’m in lit and in-house opportunities are rare)
Hi fishes, Need your help in deciding.
I've 2 offers. One from Goldman Sachs
for Analyst and other from Amazon for
SDE1. They both asked me for expected CTC.
For both I quoted 20lpa fixed and discussion is going on.
What do you think which figure should I agree on if they offer a counter. And which of the two you think is better to join considering brand value and career progression.

Switching jobs for the first time (late 20s). I have a 401k with PwC; new co doesn’t offer matching. Also have savings. Thinking I need to (1) decide if PwC or new co 401k has better funds before transferring the PwC balance (2) open Roth IRA and contribute max before 12.31, repeat next year and (3) put savings (less emergency fund) in an investment account. Thoughts / recommendations for the above?
Genuinely asking for input from folks good with managing money. Grew up around very poor $ habits.
Single mid 20s. Making $85k, rent is $1,650. No car pymt or debt. Have 6 mo emergency fund. Been contributing 10% (+ 4% match) to 401k and maxing Roth IRA. I budget for and track every dollar I spend and enjoy my life without being overly extravagant. Would most people be spending less and contributing more to 401k? I’d love to be someone who maxes out 401 - but don’t feel it’s realistic? Thanks!

Household income (2 earners) $350k in NY. Decent homes in the neighborhood we are looking at are for around $1.2-$1.3 (Long Island) which translates to ~$7k monthly (mortgage, property tax, home insurance). Can I afford this expense?
Thinking of leasing a studio to save an extra few hundred bucks per month on rent. Is it worth it? Never lived in a studio but hear mix things about it. Those who have, do you regret it or is it doable?
anyone buying into the dip?
Starting to get into investing and generally a pretty risk averse person so not out here trying to make fast money. What mediums do people generally use to invest? Think I’m too easily stressed to pick individual stocks, but happy to take suggestions for platforms for both. TIA!
Is it always better to first max out HSA and invest those funds before contributing to 401k?
It seems like HSA has better tax advantages.
I’m new to this.
I know everyone throws this type of question to the bowl but I've been going hard on my finances the last couple of years since I'm trying to buy a starter home for our family. I've paid off student loans, no debt, just a car lease and wondering how this holds up. I'm 35 and my networth is about $345,000. I hear by 40 you should have tripled your salary but that's seems a lot especially for a first gen Latino who parent immigrated here poor. Thanks in advance!
For those that manage their own retirement investments, what platforms do you use / recommend? I use Merrill Edge, but anticipate fees moving to a non managed account. TIA.
Playing catch-up: seeking advice on how to steer the financial ship toward smarter waters. 39 years old, single, renter, live in a high cost of living city. 130K cash savings. 44K in an idle 401k, no debt. What should I do to better my cause?
