Recently received an offer from a mid-size public firm and unsure if I should consider the opportunity. I’m currently in S1 SALT in NJ. The details are below: - Pay: $80k (12% upward bump than what I’m getting right now) - Title: Semi senior, but up for promotion in July if all goes well - Role: General tax, but mainly federal tax. One of the main reasons I’m considering -Location: Technically NYC, but assuming I do well while we are still remote I can work out of NJ 3 days after covid ends
Anyone mind sharing their average monthly electricity (kWh) usage since covid? I’m in southern CA, 2k sq ft house w/pool, 2 adults working from home (no kids). Summer months are around 1,700 kWh; other 9-10 months average around 400 kWh. We replaced HVAC post-summer and hope to see improvement this summer. Thanks in advance.
No data no problem. Coronavirus will vanish. https://www.cnbc.com/2020/07/16/us-coronavirus-data-has-already-disappeared-after-trump-administration-shifted-control-from-cdc-to-hhs.html
Instead of endless free handouts to illegal immigrants, wide open borders with Mexico, D&I posturing and Juneteenth, this is what I would have liked to see: Appreciation for our Covid Essential workers, who just had the worst 1+ year of their life. Now this is a government that I can respect.
Trump supporters, do any of you really believe Louis Gohmert got coronavirus from wearing a mask?
I just want to hear the explanation for why staff who started during COVID are doing so badly on average (and I have heard this from every level including staff themselves) from the pro 100 percent work from home people. If you agree it’s real, what is your solution? If it can’t be fixed, are we just accepting that the people we expect to backfill our positions aren’t going to be ready?
Can I apply infosys after 6 months after rejecting their offer ? Should I use a new Email ID? N.B. I have rejected the offer due to parental COVID infection on middle of second wave. I need a long leave which may not be possible while serving notice period. Informed and mailed HR with proper documents.HR accepted the same politely.
Any ideas that people have on how to network/break into circles of tech startups? Long story short, joined a tech Fortune 500 company a little over a year ago as an entry level analyst and things have gone downhill with COVID (limited growth here but got exposure). Looking to start new with a startup as I grew tired of the ethics of a larger corp. I have no network as it stands in tech startups, don't come from a target school (although I graduated with honors) and at a loss of where to start.
Folks on H-1B, do you really need to be in your home office (or within commutable distance during COVID) 1 day per week? How strictly is this enforced, if at all? Thank you!
Are any young healthy people considering going out and getting COVID on purpose? Most antibody studies are showing the disease is far more prevalent than we realized and therefore a much lower...

Befor Covid, were any of you working moms who had to travel? I’m in audit and I’m so nervous about having kids and having to spend the night away from them when they are little.
What type of self help strategies do individuals actually find helpful when you feel burn out or stuck in a rut? Any books, apps, meditation, podcasts, etc, others find helpful? I've done therapy and it has definitely helped this past year with covid and a marriage separation, starting to feel like I'm making progress and want to keep up the momentum. Looking to see what type of self help others find actually beneficial and would love to use that to help others stuck in burn out too
Was consulting actually that much better pre-COVID? This is my first job out of college, only have 6 months of experience, but already thinking of jumping ship after 1 year mark
My utilization has been so low since COVID closed off the offices. Should I be worried? Should I reach out to my relationship/career coach? Change to another group/line of service??
How has your living situation changed because of COVID? I live in DC, but left to stay with my parents in MA. I don’t see any reason to go back - everything is shut down in DC and I’m working remotely. Interested to see whether others have moved because of COVID.
Back to our regular scheduled programming the coronavirus, please wear mask for our southern and western folks. T shirts are optional.
Any Self Contained MS teachers out there. Do you have students who are more behavioral than anything else. I am struggling to provide support to some of my students because of the behaviors of others in the classroom.
Just received the resume of a client's kid... Nepotism isn't overcoming this train wreck.

I have worked in the HR space for the past 9 years, however most of my experience has been in Talent Acquisition. I do want to move into a People Operations/Generalist role. I’m planning to go for a HR certificate but unsure if I should go for a PHR or SHRM. Please advise!

I feel like the deloitte name brand intimidates me the most out of the b4. Idk why it seems unapproachable
I want to move to one of the bigger firms like EY, KPMG, Deloitte, and PwC and am not quite sure how to go about it. MBB is known for fastest progression to Partner in 6-7 years and SIGNIFICANTLY better comp compared to Big 4. That said seeing some of my Big 4 friends make it to SMs in 7 years so MBB needs to amp up the meritocracy based promotions. Curious what would be the comp for a 1st year consulting partner in Big 4?

I report to a VP who also handles HR. I am working on building FCPA policies and a compliance program. Today she told me she needs to check with an outside attorney to see if CA law will cause issues for us. . . I just need to vent. I’m trying to figure out why is she paying me, but then again I totally shouldn’t care!! I’ve learned my lesson. Don’t report to someone with no legal background.
