Just don’t work with competing brands for example if you on an auto account don’t moon light on another auto account or ya get cut if caught, s is n it happen.
There was an epic story from about 15 years ago about a creative who had two full time staff jobs. I think one was BBDO. He (she? Can’t remember) would work the morning uptown and the afternoon downtown. Got caught eventually but I can’t remember how and it took a long time
Do they get caught? Seems like double and triple dipping is how my wealthy ad friends made all their money. I've never been able to pull it off, never really had the opportunity.
My understanding of this issue is taking on simultaneous day rates vs. having multiple clients. Although yes, doing work on competing brands at the same time would be a legit conflict.
No one cares if the work is getting done. They are still billing your hours to the client
I was able to double dip a day rate only once, and my partner and I were working off site, so no one knew. Where you’re located would seem to be key. You’d need at least one client who was ok with off site
Oh lol. I do that all the time. Didn’t think there was an issue with it. I’m a freelancer, I take on a new client, clearly I’ve had clients before him and will have other clients after
I quadruple dip as a freelancer. “It’s all in the game, yo."
Double dipping?
@AD1 double dipping is doing two freelance jobs at the same time.
@Freelance I just figured people did. But I don’t know. Was curious
How would anyone find out though? Is it when they process payroll?
The easiest way to do it is to freelance while full time. In other words, you do some remote freelance work while working your staff job. I do it a few times per year and never worry about getting caught.
I know someone who works for Beachbody & AARP - I don’t know how the heck they pull it off 😳
