How do people make friends in Boston? I haven’t made friends here since college... not sure if I should be trying to expand my network.

I am a brand new mom in the Milton/Alpharetta area and I’m wondering how other moms navigated meeting new mom friends? I would love to find a good group (or just a few random) girlfriends - they don’t even have to be moms, but in this season of life, it feels like that might be the most natural connector. All suggestions welcome! If there are specific groups/activities you recommend, that would be super helpful.

A parent (who I don’t live with) has a substance abuse problem that my other parent knows about but isn’t effectively dealing with. I want to initiate the professional help route - any advice?

How do people make friends here? I have the ones i grew up with and a couple I made in the last couple of years (neighbors/through mutual friends) but I generally find that people here just stick with their social circles

I am long distance with my boyfriend and am feeling really unsettled about our relationship. We’ve been together 9 months, and long distance for 4/ 9. I love him and am lonely while distanced, but super happy with our relationship. I’m unsettled about the future and if we will be happy together in the future. I do not want to move to where he is located and he does not want to move here. He definitely wants kids, and I’m younger and more unsure. He’s a suburbs guy, and I want lavish city life.

How would you feel going on vacation with friends who want to bring their kid along too?

Can someone please explain why some people bring up past emotional hurts during arguments even if you’ve apologized for them and they haven’t happened again? My marriage is struggling and we have to pack up the kids and fake it till we make it with my in laws for most of their Christmas break. I don't want a divorce but things are not good, and it's hard to pretend they are even in front of the kids. Looking for advice I guess, or just a kind word. Really don't want the in-laws finding out and trying to put their two cents in, and neither does she.

I can sacrifice an entire weekend cleaning my house so that wife's friend can spend the week. When I ask for a couple hours to help get the house clean so a house cleaner can effectively clean I'm told that's my prerogative and get no help. Well fuck me for being tired of living in a messy house.

Some have learned track changes. Some put arrows on a PDF redline. I prefer track changes because I don’t have to spend time typing stuff manually into documents. What are others views?

FRIENDSHIP problems. Me and my best friend’s relationship drifted far apart during Covid where we don’t talk anymore. Nothing happened, just lack of effort. We used to be inseparable sisters. Anyone has experience negotiating a medical bill with MGH. I got some blood work done and was sent a bill of 1800. The bill was 2700 but negotiated rate with my insurance is 1800. I got the exact same blood work done in NC 2 years back and it cost me <200. My insurance said i should have gone to labcorp. I am new to Boston and didn't know this. MGH says prices are higher as we are a teaching hospital. It's just open loot and does not make sense. Anyone dealt with a similar situation.
