Not impossible but can get pretty costly (dog walkers or dog daycare). It really isn’t fair to the dog either if it’s just going to be alone all the time.
1. They don’t
2. They have a committed partner
3. They horribly neglect the dog
BCG1, I work crazy hours too and I do what I just described with ease.
I had dogs growing up and always wanted a dog or two once I had “settled down”. 15 years into my career; big house, fenced yards, no kids so it’d get all of my attention... and married 5 years! But I still don’t have one - as I’m not sure how we’d manage the few weeks a year we’re not around.
Manage a team of 80 people but not sure I can do a good enough job of taking care of one more life 🤣 I know that most people in a much less stable position wouldn’t be having 2nd thoughts. Probably just need to get on with it!

Eeeeeww no 😂
My dog is on day care 3x a week. Very necessary when busy day at work. Then we go hiking on weekends.
Have had a dog since 3 years into my career. I have a partner which helps for sure but we both work a lot (though minimal travel). Dog is fine home alone from 8am-6pm since 2 years of age. Morning walk, evening yard time, quick yard pee at night. Used to be 3 walks when we were in a condo.
Amen SC1. Mine is a shelter pup. I do challenge people to think about what breed they are getting vs their lifestyle. This was my first herding dog and damn she can run.
It’s possible - just expensive (house/dog sitter, day care etc.) and emotionally draining (worrying if you did the right thing, missing them etc).

We have 3 dogs and 2 cats. My wife and daughter take care of them while I’m traveling.
