No big deal: try to get them to say their number first (so you can avoid shooting yourself on the foot with a low ask), avoid disclosing how much you currently make (to no anchor the discussion around it), if pressured state your target compensation (something along the lines of 'to make a career move now I'm looking for $X), and most importantly - BE COMFORTABLE WITH SILENCE - most junior people feel the need to feel the silence with explanations and that just gets across as insecurity (and you want to sound confident, just be careful to not sound too aggressive).

I have the perfect qualifications for the job (the recruiter even said so to my face) and want to have a slight salary bump compared to my consulting pay. The interviewer asked my already what I want but has not reacted yet or made a counter-offer.
I am female and consulting was my first job - no experience with salary negotiation whatsoever. Any tips appreciated.

You could ask colleagues who have worked on restructuring projects where they got anonymized salary data of the employees of similar firms.

* fill the silence

As women, we tend to not negotiate as hard. Do your market research on what that position pays, what you can get at similar companies, etc.

I have already stated my ask and also answered there question on how much I currently make (but only fix not bonus - so left that a big vague by saying that obviously, bonus is a big thing in consulting). Not being pressured by silence is a good tip though...especially because it is going to be a negotiation on the phone...any other tips?

Any tips on how to do Market research on a position? I'm hoping to hear on an offer tomorrow. Glassdoor only has the level and location, but the range is Huge. $80K-$140K

Look up what similar positions get paid at their competitors and similar job titles across the industry

Hey gang, lately I have been thinking if I got underpaid. Graduated from master school right after 2020 pandemic and started by 68K as UXD in digital sales company based in NYC. With 2 YOE the salary went up by 3% and 5% average promotion. Now it comes up to 75K w/ 6K bonus. What do you think of this? My manager honestly told me I was underpaid during 1-1 but since he was newly hired not long ago, he told me he has no solution at the moment. Thinking of starting a new position...

During a weekly status call, a US based manager in my organization stated “the recruiters need to find fewer candidates with English as a second language” in reference to the fact that we just hired a person of Indian heritage. We are a global company and about 1/3rd of our employees are from outside of the US/UK. I reported the manager to HR along with several other times that he has acted in a racist manner.

My last firm there was this manager who was 45 and divorced who didn't not give 2 shts about his job

He would come in at 10, leave at 11, not return until 4p, and then leave at 5pm

When he would come back at 4pm, his hair would either be wet and he'd proudly say he went swimming or his hair would be shorter and he'd equally as proudly say he got a haircut

I have too many stories about this guy until one day he just up and quit with no notice bc he hated his job
