How do u nicely reiterate that you’ve already communicated something to a client? I don’t mind repeating myself but want to make sure I reiterate that I didn’t drop the ball. They just didn't listen

Just nicely reiterate it. Think of it like this: my car insurance agent always tells me what I have every renewal. I don’t give two shits so long as I’m covered. It’s her job, therefore I ask dumb questions. Not because I am dumb, but because I don’t care to make room in my head to remember the details of
My auto policy. If she were rude about it, I’d find another agent.
Just be nice and realize that’s how a lot of people think of us. They like us, enjoy us, trust us, but what we do for them is supremely boring and a bit confusing, so they repeat a lot of questions and that is 👌.

Great advice IAR! Appreciate it. My personality is that of “humble servant” so definitely don’t mind repeating myself and being nice and prompt and all those nice things 😀 most of my frustration/concern from situations like is bc I’m relatively new in the business (less than 3 years) and I do have some “confidence” issues in the sense that I’m always worried if clients are happy and satisfied with me and my service. I also worry that if they are not they will leave me and I can’t really afford that especially when they do financial planning and investing with me too. I have no reason to believe clients are not happy other than getting in my own head. My first thought when I got his message asking for an update was “OMG I already told him we are in a waiting period but does he not think I’m doing a good enough job, communicating enough, etc”; definitely something I need to work on for my own sanity 😏

I send meeting notes via email. then I just resend the email

Agree with Client Executive 1. Keep your client informed, but don’t make such a big deal about it. Chill.

I have an interview next week and want to vet the new law firm with questions to determine if there’s a good work-life balance, respect for how work is delegated (i.e., attorneys are not routinely asked to do obvious paralegal work), and what overall systems/structures are in place to make it a functional/successful environment. What sorts of questions do you think would get this info and also cut through the usual bs of “we’re a family here” when in reality no one talks to each other?

A partner put me in charge of a specific project that I ran independently. Things were going well. The client began asking me to do more and more, including revamping their system and internal trainings. The client even gave me a litigation matter. Suddenly, the partner became more involved. I was removed from meetings concerning the revamping, my trainings were cancelled, and he started micromanaging. He has now sidelined me from the project and trash talked me to the client. I am very upset.

Hello, I have a question that needs your inputs how to handle. I am working with a post-MBA Associate on a project and this person seems to do extra work beyond what the team is asking the rest of us to do. I think during our conversations with the leadership, there were a couple of points that were brought up by the MD but that was not a concrete directive that we need to do because if it is, I would know about it from the chain email since I am staffed to the project.

3. Work life balance depends on Project and managers you work with
4. Inside opportunities if you're the creamy layer
5. PF amount in offer letter is the total deduction and not just company's contri

I’ve been in a smaller firm for a month or so now, and I am struggling to find allies or even collegiality. I have had multiple conversations with other associates who shit talk each other, and say things like A: “don’t talk to B because they don’t know anything…come to me instead” then hear things about A never having peoples backs/stabbing people in the back. It’s making the actual “working” part of the job so tedious because I never know who to go to for help without making myself vulnerable.

It feels like everyone has gotten so down on advertising. You can still make great work for great brands at great agencies. You can still do things you’re proud of. And fill your portfolios with beautiful things. And have great impact. And collect shiny awards and enjoy great after parties after it. And see your commercials on TV during the Super Bowl. It’s still a great way to make a living if done right. And craft services is still tasty. You just have to make the right career moves.
