Tbh Ive taken the stance that as long as my check clears, idc. The stress of navigating passive aggressive people is exhausting. If it keeps happening then Id probably address it.

OG Perspective: Remember the serenity prayer..”…accept what you can’t change..” from your comments sounds like this is what they do at your place…So rather than make it about you (which is what taking it personal is) keep reminding yourself this is about them and their control issues.
If it gets too much to bear, again serenity prayer tells us what to do…”change what we can”…Not saying change is easy but it’s always nice to know we can go somewhere else where our “voice” is respected.
This was really helpful. I appreciate you taking the time to share such a thoughtful answer and I will definitely take that to heart and apply it to other areas in my work life, too. Thank you for that.

No, this doesn't happen to most non-top people, so something is up. Have you received feedback about why your leads constantly rewrite your emails? The fact that they don't think your messages are up to snuff is more concerning than the idea that they're taking away your voice. If you obtain and act on their feedback, you can still have your voice because they won't need to rewrite your messages.

In terms of your main question, I don't think any self talk is needed. In the work world, slides get re-done, code gets updated, manuscripts get edited and emails get rewritten. It is normal and common for it to happen to someone at least once.
When I was a staff officer (Army), it was to be expected. The burden was for the email to be factual and dispassionate. The number of inboxes an email landed between the originator and final recipient was not unlike the telephone game school children play. The only things that ever stayed (and the only things that needed to stay) the same were the 5Ws.
TL;DR: If your email wasn't returned, consider it a win.
Really appreciate that perspective!

OP, can you elicit feedback and adjust?

Very cool!
I don’t send my emails to anybody before I send them out. Is this a common thing? Dang.
Maaaaaan… I wish I could say it wasn’t common but I see it all the time at my company. I get the impression that my colleagues don’t mind it but it doesn’t feel good to me and I’ve always cringed when watching someone’s email just get ravaged.
My POV is if you want the email to be written exactly the way you would’ve written it then send the email yourself.
