I'm a naturally empathetic person, so this is easy for me. I would imagine that if I were not so emotionally connected, I would struggle in this area. Are there any exercises you can do to help you get in touch with your emotions and better serve your employees?
I think empathy is fine, as long as professional boundaries stay uncrossed. I don't pretend to be a robot, and I don't expect anyone else to do the same. I naturally feel connected to the staff when hard things happen, but I remember my role as well.
I always consider my staff's emotions. I am pretty empathetic but setting boundaries is necessary. You need to establish boundaries for professional reasons.
Yes, I give them emotional support. But I always keep my boundaries. if you get emotionally attached, it might affect your decisions.
