If you find the answer let me know! I’m feeling the same!
I was beginning to feel burned out at the end of my 17th year. I was not looking forward to a new year beginning with new faces. So when a different position became open in the school I jumped at the chance to apply. I got the new position and it has been a breath of fresh air. I now feel like I can make the next 12 years or so so of teaching, even if I have to go back to what I was doing before. A change, whether temporary or permanent is exactly what I needed. So my advice is see what position may be available in your school system and try something new.
I’m feeling the same way. I just left a teaching job and moved back to my home state where I thought the transition would spark my passion. It has some but I still feel like this just isn’t for me anymore. I’m more impatient and I raise my voice a lot more than I used to. I wake up every morning telling myself to be “softer” and nice 🙄 I just don’t know....
During my 23+ years I have just tried different grades and different jobs. Not everyone is cut-out to teach one grade for thirty years.
They are so many ways to contribute than just in the classroom.
Yeah I’ve moved grade levels several times or I would have never made it this far. Just not sure what to do now
If you’re experiencing burn-out, then you definitely need a change. Whether it’s a change in grade levels or a completely new area ... do it! You will not only benefit both mentally and physically, you will gain a new prospective. In addition, you’ll be gaining experience in other areas of the educational system that will be insightful in being more well-rounded as an educator.
That’s the hard part. I don’t know what area to move into. What else can you do with a teaching degree?
