You have to find a workout made for mornings. I literally hate mornings and can smooth talk my way out of working out. Soulcycle is the only thing that's worked because A. You are attached to the bike. And B it's dark with loud music so you're basically still inside the anxiety fever dream you just left.
For what it's worth, I wasn't a morning person until I started going to the gym in the mornings
The real struggle isn't working out it's getting out of bed #mourningworkout
Granted I'm a morning person but have you tried taking AM classes instead of just hitting the gym? Though I have to wake up at the asscrack of dawn, it's an amazing feeling to be up, out, awake, and energized after a workout at 8am.
I understand intellectually the value of above advice but...fuck all that!!:) Btw, MVS1, do you go to bed at 8:00pm then or what?! Damn
It's easier to work out in the morning if you set out your clothes ahead of time. Seeing them and having them accessible is sometimes enough motivation. I once wore my gym clothes to bed the night before. It was convenient but sports bras suck.
Up at 3:45am. To the gym by 4:30am. Do a light-moderate weight circuit for about 20-30 mins. Then lift moderate weights for upper body (i switch between arms/shoulders and back) for another 30-45 mins. Then some moderate cardio on stairmaster or treadmill (or just walk the mile home when its nice out). I only do this twice a week max. Then I lift heavy legs on Saturday and heavy upper body on Sunday. I have forced myself to be an AM workout type of person because my energy is waning after work and the gym is usually so packed I can't stand it. I like that i'm up and moving before most people are awake. I then have boatloads of energy the rest of the day too.
That's how classpass and their previous 24 hour cancellation policy got me!
I hate the mornings but got a trainer to force me to workout in the AM before work. It is the worst best thing I've ever done.
Eat a ketogenic diet and you'll have plenty of energy to workout after work.
Well, I assume paying for a class would really make you stick to it!
I like to run after work. I use a fresh playlist and/or podcast as my me-time reward. Or I use the time to unravel the day. Even if I'm tired, once I'm out there I usually perk up.
I believe most people can make themselves morning workout people if they really want to. But dumb as it sounds, it takes more than getting up early! Like getting in habit of going to bed earlier the night before. Also some organization helps like having your gear ready to throw on, maybe even having shake/breakfast stuff ready to go when you get back.
Stimulants
^ same. I set out my gear the night before. Including any morning shake, pre-workout, etc. Makes it all much easier when in zombie mode
@AAD1 yes. Between 8-9. But like I said, only 1-2 days a week on weekdays. (It also helps that I LOVE sleep)
👨🏽💻 what's a gym?
@OP thats another reason I do workouts in the AM. Pre-workout at night is no bueno. Keeps me up til midnight or later. But workouts in the AM are "easier" because you can take a full dose of preworkout to wake u up
Actually, that's highly subjective to individual. There's no right/wrong time to work out and don't fall for these preconceived notions. To many, it's a way to "tire" themselves, do light dinner afterwards and sleep like babies through the night. When I used to work out (many times on and off through the years with many falls off the wagon in between), I only worked out st like 4-5-6-7pm, depending on day and circumstance, and felt relaxed before bed with a clear mind rather than running thoughts about work tomorrow...
Force yourself working out in the mornings for 2 weeks and you'll get used to it...
