How do you balance interviews with fieldwork? You can only have so many doctors appointments.

Please don’t tell your teams you are leaving, this is AWFUL advice. This shouldn’t be divulged (except maybe to trusted confidants) until you’ve got an offer in hand and are ready to leave.

I wouldn't tell my team. If you don't get the job and people know you've been skipping out on work to interview when they're busy, they're not gonna like you very much. Someone posted before about using plumber/electrician is fixing stuff. That way you can even use say you have follow up appts wth them because things didn't get fixed. That'll but you 2 interview slots haha.

Dentist appointment. Eye appointment. Cable guy is coming. Internet issues. Plumbing/electrical. I went on a lunch interview and said I was meeting an old coworker, which wasn’t a lie. Just not completely truthful.

I have actually had a lot of doctors appointments recently. Just to make em sweat.

Or just tell your team and PML and take PTO or make up the hours. No need to be so secretive.

I would say personal matter or doc appt. None of their business. If the work gets done, shouldn’t really matter.

You might not care about someone else being butt hurt, but at least where I live, accounting community is very small and I've heard of multiple cases of people burning bridges that come back to bite them years later.

like

😂. You are a professional. Schedule them first thing or last, or if close by, lunch. Just don’t blatantly lie and on your way out, be respectful...even if the company sucks. You never know when things will come around

I don’t understand the secrecy. Partners have great connections to great companies that can help you find your next role. We know that PA isn’t for everyone. I have multiple examples where we have helped people get a great opportunity when they decided they didn’t want to stay in public long term. Yes, we will question you on the why behind wanting to leave, and even try to convince those that are strong performers to stay. At the end of the day the partners care a lot more than a recruiter about you finding the right next role

I actually do have that many dr appointment, almost one every week. I thought at one point my team will think I’m trying to leave, but really as long as you get your work done, no one is going to try to figure out what you are doing exactly. Well unless it’s such a shitty job that you are obviously trying to get out before busy season and jump ship on them

like

@EY4 there’s nothing wrong with shopping around to have multiple options. At the end of the day, you want to stick your landing and not jump to the first opportunity offered.

Start getting dental work.

Just tell your team you’re going to interviews, who cares if someone gets butt hurt, you’re looking to leave anyways

How many interviews is it taking to get a job? Ideally, you'd only need a few, right?

I would say that my doctor requested lab work and to see specialists as follow up

Im a recent grad on a tech implementation project for a small firm. I’m finding it challenging because I’m expected to know how to solution a user problem based on the system that I really don’t know all the ins and outs of. I enjoy the req gathering/PMO activities, but thinking of data mapping and integrations is such a new way of thinking than a typical strategy-based case study. Do strategy ppl find these tech implementation difficult?
