It’s just part of my budget. It’s not a reactive plan to give. Instead, I allocate XX dollars monthly as a line item.

It's part of my budget. I take out the amount automatically every month into a different account.

Part of expenses. Don’t even think about it.

What is the best method to save up for a down payment on a home? Wife and I are looking to buy in next couple of years but we don’t really have a nest egg for a down payment (been aggressive on remaining student loans and maxing out 401k). We anticipate we will need a down payment of about 400-500k. What is the best way accumulate that - in a savings account, low yield bonds, conservative ETFs, etc?

I’m planning on getting my real estate license this spring! My biggest hesitation is that I currently live downtown Chicago and do not own a car. I really do not want to buy or lease a car as the area I live in requires a garage spot to park. Is it realistic to believe that I can be a real estate agent in Chicago if I rely on Uber/CTA?!

I’ve tried to save on everything possible but my family commitments make me feel I will never be able to retire - I make 95k a year and started at 82 base and 14k sign on in 2019. From 2019-2020 I had to help a family memes out of debt (approximately 30k). I started saving more aggressively in 2020 but then realized I’ll have to support my dad who’s business went under (1K every month-he’s in India so low

Assuming I can max out my 401k/Roth IRA, would you guys recommend doing backdoor Roth, or just max out the accounts and then keep the rest of my savings in a regular brokerage? And why?
