Thanks a lot for the tip

My recommendation would be to pick a cloud service provider (if you don’t have a preference, I’d recommend AWS for quite a few reasons). I’d deep dive into that provider and the services they offer for modern stack development, probably study for a couple of their certifications to become better familiarized. Learning programming languages are easy, and generally to start as a staff engineer anywhere you don’t need anything more than the basics for the most part. The important part is being able to leverage the tools of your cloud provider to be able to solve business problems. Other than that, I’d strongly recommend trying to learn the non-coding aspects that make a good developer, interpersonal skills, how projects are managed, etc.

I’ve been a generalist consultant for a few years but have a solid background in IT (python, SQL, networking, database design and management, etc) and have been considering getting some cloud certs to move into cloud strat. Do you think that is too technical of a role for me to move into? I’m 3 YOE so not too far into my career

You don't really become one. The places that look for full stack devs are places there that don't have a strong technical/Engineering team and they need someone who can do many things with tech (not too specialized). Also, the people who recruiter for this "full stack devs roles" are not really technical... Those places are not always a good choice.

To all the post-9/11 veterans, it’s a somber day that unites us all in the reason we fought. It’s easy to forget - especially with the younger generation having 9/11 be a history lesson rather than something they lived through. The waters became muddy with two wars and politicians, but you all stepped up and did your duty. Thank you all for your service, it’s an honor whether we crossed paths or not.

I had multiple mediations recently. I do management side employment law. Overall I’m walking away feeling like what the heck are we paying the mediators for? I’m tired of the mediators saying they don’t want to hear about the merits of the case. The merits are DIRECTLY tied to the amount of settlement authority I have. I feel like our clients are getting worked way more than the plaintiffs side. Also plaintiffs have followed up every single settlement with “can we get the funds before holiday?”

How tough is it to break into a FAANG PM role at mid-level if you have less prestigious experience? I have 10+ YOE in product, but some was at a tiny meh startup that fizzled out, some was in the digital wing of a large old healthcare org, and though my current role is GPM at a “name brand” tech company, it’s on the smaller side.
