How do you bill for a project when your constantly getting distracted by other matters, calls, emails etc. I’m honestly just estimating what it should have taken.

I stop my timer when someone distracts me for another matter, start the timer for that new matter, then stop it again when I got back. So for eaxmple:

930am to 1006am - Matter A
1006am to 1015am - Matter B
1015am to 1100am - Matter A

At the end of the day, I combine the line items for the matters. I use an excel equation that automatically rounds up in six minute intervals. So it would for example give me 0.6 for Matter A, then 0.2 for Matter B, then 0.8 for Matter A again.

like

1) run a timer. If your firm’s software sucks there are some free/cheap apps/programs that can do this. Pause it and start the other matter timer.
2) block off times where you can schedule your email responses, etc. unless something is on fire im getting back to everyone around 5-6

This.

Legit. I bill the other time (distracted billable time and non billable) and then subtract it from the project.

like

I don’t even know how to calculate that, there’s so much of it

When lots is going on but I need an hour or more to focus on one thing, I block off that time as a fake meeting in my outlook. I treat it as a meeting in that any emails that come in will have to be dealt with after.

Timers and do not disturb features

You need to automate. Block off unavailable periods in your calendar daily that are for you to do work uninterrupted. Set rules in outlook that will flag your emails from certain people or certain subject lines and play a different sound or bring a pop up. During quiet time you ignore emails/calls that aren’t from those urgent people.

After quiet time you quickly browse the missed emails and see if any were urgent and start with those.

Yes the work is important and time sensitive but you should be able to take 60-90 (particularly at lunch) away from your email without the sky falling.

To add on to this, do not make these blocks recurring or predictable. I once had standing blocks on two days and made the mistake of taking a call/letting someone know once that it was blocked time. That person disrespected the blocks at least once a week going forward.

Is it common in the industry for licensed insurance agents to not get any commissions on a referral in which you personally write the policy? Ex: If a current client refers a prospect to our team, I would not receive commission. Additionally, if I write a policy for friends/family I would get a small incentive but it’s a fraction of the commission producers make.
Management is considering changing this going forward. However, I’m not sure how I should react if they keep things how they are now.

Hi Folks,

I received an offer for Staff eng at Nagarro for 25LPA(yoe 6yrs). I'm an SAP FICO consultant.

Could someone please help me to choose b/w Deloitte@19LPA and Nagarro@25LPA
As I've received mixed feedbacks about the organisation(few very bad for SAP and few say just ok)
Questions that are bothering are:
1.How are SAP projects?Got to know most of them are SUPPORT projects. Learning scope?
2.Scope for project rejection and lock-in
3.How companies prefer a candidate from Nagarro when switching

Quite rudimentary but can someone help understand how optimum leverage (as a % of total capital requirement) is calculated for a transaction?

For instance, if I were to acquire a solar power plant that currently has 70% debt in its capital structure, how would I go about structuring this buyout? Would I only refinance the existing 70% debt? Can I introduce more debt? Would lenders agree to introducing more leverage to the project?
