How do you break into tech for non technical roles? I work in corporate comms/rep mgmt and am looking to make the move from agency to in-house. Curious to hear how folks did it and what it’s like

In my experience, it's all about who you know. Start networking...

Do you work in tech PR at the agency? If so, start with those connections you've made there, unless your employer has a clause against clients poaching from their team.

Thanks! I do work with a few tech clients. I’ve thought about that approach but worry that word would get back to my current teams.. not sure about a poaching clause but something I’ll have to find out.

Networking helps and just applying a LOT. Redoing your resume to make it more relevant is also key

Thanks! Yes, I’ve been tailoring my resume to make it specific to the roles/companies I’ve applied for. I do need to get better at networking for sure..

I’m a non technical (UX) program manager. My skills translated almost exactly to a role working with design, research, and writers. I also had some tech knowledge that helped

That’s awesome! I have tech and startup experience, however still find myself not getting past the initial application screening phase..

Do you think an MBA in my scenario makes sense?
Currently a L62 at Microsoft as a PM, which is the post MBA level (I have 3 YOE). I have a desire to try out VC investing or ops, and an MBA might open up my doors. However, I’d be giving up a massive opportunity cost (in those 2 years I’d probably make senior pm at msft) and don’t need an MBA for lateral big tech moves. Don’t want to get an MBA and strike out at VC

Hi everyone,
I passed my PMP thanks to this sub group.
I have passed Above Target in the People section, and T in the other sections.
It was 95% situational questions.
Thave used AR's mock exams, and used my wrong answers to figure out my weakness and where I truly stand. I didn't purchase AR's course, just the mock exam simulator.
The 200 agile questions by David McLachlan were amazing, it really helped me in adapting to an agile mindset. TIA simulator n Joseph Phillip is useful.
