Go in house for an insurance company, find a (unicorn) firm that is hiring for a junior employment counseling attorney or something not litigation, marry someone rich, self sabotage to get fired to collect unemployment, etc. Let’s get creative here.

I’m in a similar boat, have you considered working for an insurance company or working directly for a client? Are you sick of litigating, billing, or both? I’ve been applying to government litigation positions, small firm positions that do not practice insurance defense, and companies as I’m really sick of billing and insurance defense as a practice.

Let me know if you find out.

Go in house or work for the government. Try Plaintiff side.

Open up your own practice and do the work for the same hourly rate or less. But keep the money for yourself.

However, don’t think that switching sides would be easy. You must then fund your own cases with no sure income. It’s a real kick when you front &70k for a trial and lose. Insurance companies are paying less and less requiring you to work harder for less

Just settle everything outright. Then you’re practically out of “litigation.”

Serious question: If money doesn’t matter and mental health is important and you don’t feel like that’s being addressed, why not get a job that pays less that you feel supports your mental needs better? Certainly you wouldn’t mind the pay cut since money isn’t fixing your issues no? (speaking to those who still aren’t satisfied with the raises Milbank announced) I’m just trying to understand.

Just giving a bit of Gyan to fellow fishers Please please do not ever use CTC comparison between current and next company. If you get an offer, do an in hand calculation. Some companies add Retirals like Employer PF, Gratuity along with Insurance, furniture allowance as part of your CTC. Others don't. Sone also have higher variable package. So when you do a CTC delta you may get a 20% hike but when you discount the above things you will fall short and may end up making less. So choose wisely.

Hello! Seeking advice regarding our mortgage company not complying with our FHA Loan Closing Disclosure.Per FHA requirements, homeowners insurance has to be collected through escrow. However they've only been paying property taxes. This extra money that accumulated in escrow won't cover what's owed to insurance because property taxes and insurance went up. Thus leaving us with a large chunk of change that we will have to front. Had this been done correctly in the first place, we wouldn't have cared about up

Hi! I have an exploratory interview coming up with a hiring manager at a startup. I reached out to her on LinkedIn, asked if she would be open to connecting and she is. I’m very excited about this opportunity and want to make a good first impression. Meeting is via zoom so I’m treating it like an actual interview. What are some good questions to ask? Appreciate the help :)

Question about contingency fees (I work in an insurance defense firm and therefore have no idea)- client signs contingency agreement with law firm. Law firm eventually sees case is not going to be a winner in court, and therefore withdraws. Client, on his own, negotiates a settlement. Is prior law firm that withdrew beforehand entitled to fees from the settlement? It’s a first-party property damage case. Thanks in advance!
