How do you build trust with your company's employees that you are there as a resource for them, and not just to protect the company? Especially in this remote environment.

It starts with how you show up as a leader every day for them. Trust comes from transparency, consistency and holding people accountable in a fair and kind way. It’s how you have the hard conversations. It’s how you recognize people’s strengths. It’s providing training and development opportunities. It’s mentoring and coaching. It’s being a great listener that then doesn’t use information against them. HR has a rough tight rope to walk. But be your authentic self everyday. It will pay off.

This is such a great question. Folllowing.

It happens over time. Only on my third year at the job people started saying that HR is not hire&fire department anymore.
Can you describe your current situation?

What are peoples opinions on work from home? It seems to be an unpopular opinion but as a junior I despise it. I work 3 feet from my bed, I find the barriers of a phone/email between me and a senior to add a huge amount of stress to my life and I think it’s stunting my career development at my firm because I can’t build relationships as effectively. I’ve never at all had mental health issues before but now am really starting to feel burnt out and anxious most of the time. What do you think?

I had known exposure to Covid on Friday night, where one of my coworkers got pretty sick (but tested negative) but my boss still made me come in to the office on Monday.

I also have a doctors appointment on Friday and they can’t approve my WFH day.

It’s been made clear to me that my health and well being isn’t important where I’m at so if anyone is hiring a second-year in NYC let me know!

I’d like to be prepared for the initial phone screen convo, which will only last 20-30 minutes. The JD shows the salary range as 110-130(USD) commensurate with experience, but I’m happy to land anywhere in that range—yet I don’t think it’s good to disclose that. How can I tactfully still talk to the recruiter about landing closer to 130? Not trying to be greedy, but certainly aiming high!

I am unfamiliar with recruiting actual recruiters and am surprised by the average salary.

I'm seeing salaries for senior recruiters,5 years experience, averaging $120 - 135k. I'll be honest, this has popped the lid on my budget. I need someone who can be strategic and tech savvy, who can recruit and lead a small team (>3). I'm a supporter of paying market standards but this seems high for the need. Is this standard and I'm just out of touch?
