How do you come to terms with the fact that someone won’t ever love you back? Especially when you have been and know you will be in love with them for decades.

Realize you don’t deserve them

Realize that therapy can do wonders, it’s probably related to your ego and attachment issues, & that it’s infatuation and not love. You probably don’t even know who they really are and just have a fantasy of them in your head

Realize that you can love more than one person in a lifetime. Find the next one and hope it’s not unrequited.

You need to go no contact, including all social media. Then heed to what M1 & D1 said. There’s no way you can do this without going no contact. Been there came out stronger the other end. Can’t imagine my life without my current SO.

I get that OP, I am still in love with one of my exes. Long story short I decided to go back to my long term bf, but never got over my ex. Now I’m considering breaking up with my bf to give it another go with the ex. I just never stopped loving him, I don’t know what to do 🤷‍♀️

I have a buddy just like you, OP. Very smart and successful guy but a fking idiot when it comes to this “one true love” of his. Just like you, he keeps trying to get over her and just like you he keeps getting “drawn back to them”. Here’s the other side of the coin: a LOT of girls LOVE to be the object of that obsessive desire. A good woman will cut you off, let you go, and tell you to move on. A selfish, egoistical woman will dangle you around, pop around in your life, “as friends”, etc. It may be difficult to believe right now, but distance and time does mend everything. Cut her off entirely, remove from social media, do not hit her up “just to catch up”. If she is the one doing all that, YOU need to cut her off.

Have you ever been in a relationship with this person!? Is this person your ex!? - I need more context. Or is this someone you've never dated!? What ever your situation is, stop putting this person on the pedestal. see them as a human being - flawed. Just because we like a person doesn't mean they are relationship material. Love is not sufficient to sustain a long term relationship. If this person is your ex, they are ex for a reason. Opening up past wounds will not do you any good. If this is someone you've never dated, you're in love with the potential and not with a real person. Sorry to say this, it's in your head.
