I’d like to know too. I’m tired and done. I’m not getting anything out of my job anymore.

I feel the same way. But I’ve been at it a long time! Mostly dislike the admin reporting structure and overall management. Micromanagement and no local control/decision making. Sucks!

I feel the same. I'm burnt out. When I look at job listings nothing looks interesting. All more of the same.

Are you no longer happy with what you do? Is it lack of growth, income or interest? You need to find what about the job you no longer enjoy. Most people become burnt out because they are either over worked and there is no life to work balance or they aren’t being compensated. Doesn’t just mean monetary either, sometimes other perks matter. Ways to deal with it, make it a fun environment you want to go to everyday. I don’t know if you need more of a challenge or to learn something new to implement. Otherwise maybe a new industry or role might help. It really just depends on why you feel like this to begin with. Also keep in mind if you feel that way it will start to affect your performance, but best to find out what triggers it before you mention it to anyone.

Thanks! Pretty sure I’m overworked. Not the first time but definitely the first time I’m recognizing it before my performance suffers.

I was feeling super burnt out around the September time frame and I got approval from my boss to attend the ASAP admin professionals conference in Chicago. It was soooo nice to be with so many people in the same profession as me and just genuinely take a break from working and focus on improving me. I learned so much too. I don’t know if your work would pay for you to attend something like this but there are a few orgs that do events for our profession. The leader Assistant, American society for administrative professionals, office ninja there are some others too but these are three that come to mind and all do professionals development conferences

Also recognize that these 2 pandemic years have been hard on all of us mentally. A couple of steps you can take right away to improve your well being: schedule a 2 week vacation that includes being in nature. You can rent an Air BnB or other and spend some time resting and rejuvenating with winter walks, fires, and other hobbies that make you feel good. Start a meditation practice with one of the apps out there (I like Calm) and be amazed at what 20 min of sitting quietly can do for you. I was stoic and practical through the past 2 years but am also fraying. Be kind to yourself and others (I have found myself with far less patience and snapping at others, which is unusual for me.) I’m trying to be kinder to myself and know that others are in the same mental place.

Don’t say anything to your supervisor. But put your resume together and start looking. Take vacation in the meantime. Put your resume in LinkedIn. But I agree what part are you no longer enjoying. Take some time to figure it out. I mean there are days you turn around an you’ve sat in that chair from home and you happen to catch the clock an it 6 pm an you’ve been sitting there looking at that monitor the whole time. Pick yourself up an take a break. Look at your day an what time would be best. Set an alarm for that time and do something different!

Many feel the same way. I know teaming with other admin helps. You can even start virtual meditation sessions and invite the team. There are so many 10 minute meditations on YouTube to use.

Same here.

Don't say a word! I promise you that your burnout will eventually pass. How you are feeling is just cyclical. No need to have any deep conversations with your Partners or Admin Supervisor. The only person who can really get you motivated is YOU. Rest assured, they are likely battling their own work issues, as well. That's why Partners retire at 58 these days - stress and the fast pace. Take a walk outside and breathe in the crisp winter air. Take each day as it comes and try not to project. The Christmas holiday will be upon us soon, and I would suggest you take the week of Christmas off prior to the week the firm is closed. It'll do you good. Been where you are....and back again. What a difference a day can make.

I agree, don't say anything unless medically necessary. I was reminded of "that conversation" when discussing my very low end of year manager's rating for Better Me dial

Someone correct me if I’m wrong… for PDM Analysts/Senior Analysts with 93% utilization target, working 40 hours a week, factoring in holidays/collective disconnect days… there’s 1 day of PTO available across the entire performance year in order to meet utilization by Jan 8? Is that even legal? Lol
