If you are starting as an Audit Associate some time from now with Deloitte or any of the big 4, do they expect you to have passed/completed all 4 parts by the time you start? Received the Becker Reimbursement email from the recruiter not too long ago but have yet to start. I’ve seen plenty of people get to Senior at a big 4 firm without the CPA so I am a bit confused in that aspect. Any helpful feedback will be very much appreciated.
I interviewed for Data Analyst role at EY, it went well and the job sounds great, but I'm a bit hesitant to leave PwC because I really like the firm and I'm just 8 months in my job as an associate at a subgroup of ITS that has some focus on technology and analytics but it's mostly tax compliance.
I do want to transition to data analytics but I'm not sure if it's a good idea to go to another big 4, or maybe just look for a position in industry.
Any advice or similar experience?

Like this isn’t even a “I hate consulting” post, as I like the big picture stuff a lot and recognize I’m in a privileged position professionally. However, I often feel bogged down and unmotivated from day to day. Advice? 🤔
I have this same problem, attempting to take the “grateful for everything approach”. I think the “looking forward to” mindset is a short term band aid, trying to get into engaging work that I’m passionate about and fulfills my personal growth goals so that work doesn’t feel like drudgery and I see new work as opportunities not obligations.
I create things to look forward to. Dinners with friends, check out an exhibit, me time with face masks and chill music, check out a new place in the area even if it's just to grab a coffee or to catch an exhibit, etc. Are you on travel or local? Each comes with its own options. But creating something to look forward esp with a set time means I have to plan to get my work done so I'm free.
You can set up some phone/video chats with your family and friends. I keep in touch with some folks that way. Otherwise, you can try meeting people in the area if you don't want to spend extra time with your team. I like a combination of people and activities including self care. I sometimes will feel demotivated when I'm browning out without noticing or when I'm not challenged/interested enough. Either way, some adjustments are needed then.
Set mini goals for yourself. Block off calendars to do work in chunks. Remove distractions. Get daily exercise. I’m in same boat
Same here OP, running 2-3 miles works wonders if you can find the time and motivation.
I keep a running list of to dos on my desktop and getting to cross things off and seeing the list get shorter is halfway decent motivation
Hmm I do this but doesn’t rly motivate me to keep chugging. Maybe a lot of it is bc prioritizes are constantly changing throughout the day and I end up getting so little on the list done
Stay focused is a great app that blocks unproductive sites. Dramatically keeps me focused, but still gives me 10 min during the day to be distracted
I volunteer every day after work at an area non-profit. It gives me something to look forward to after a long day.
If I said that I’m afraid it would be identifying to those who know me, but let’s just say the org has regular business hours and volunteers are especially needed after business hours to help with closing duties.
where are you based out of, OP?
yeah, just curious as I find making events (e.g. poker nights, dinners, etc.) helps me stay focused as it tightens some deadlines. Was going to offer to loop you into any events I make with coworkers in my office, but it appears we're in different locations
