Your work praises or criticisms should not affect you. The best way to deal with it that has helped me is to have a spreadsheet and just keep a log of it. After I write it down, I keep working. Remember, praises or criticisms won't pay your bills.
I am the same. I have always felt uncomfortable with praises. I have slowly started to accept what comes my way and build my self- worth. Hang in there.
So right!! I don’t know how to react when someone gives me a compliment!
Like BCG1 said, lots of people feel like that. You’re not special and we’re all just trying our best to survive out here.
Once I finally realized that my life became much easier. If you look around there is a lot of people doing less than you and receiving even more praise.
Stop too real
I recently read an article about how more people feel this way than don't. It blew my mind because I always feel like I'm the *only* one who feels like they don't fit in at all! When I remember that most of the other people around me are experiencing similar feelings, it helps me to be more gracious with myself...and others, too. :)
You have self doubts and it's not healthy. Believe in yourself. I was in the same situation like you before and getting through that syndrome takes time.
This sounds like me. I feel like this all the time. I personally keep a journal with me and I keep track of my accomplishments, even the smallest form of it. I also keep a list of the best feedbacks I've received from work and outside of work that I could review whenever the monster creeps in.
I constantly feel out of place. I see other people’s work and it’s structured SO differently to how my brain works. I always feel inferior when I see other people’s outputs. That being said, I always receive really great feedback so it’s clearly just in my head. I think we all need to remember that! Slight side note but is linked, I find positive self-talk is a really great tool for me. We are so hard on ourselves. If we spoke to another person the way that we speak to ourselves, that person would be so hurt and offended. Speak to yourself the way that you would console a colleague or friend dealing with the same situation. You will notice how much being horrible to yourself affects your mental well-being
Think of the compliments as your coworkers talking to separate entities from you. For example, they're complimenting Creativity or Cleverness, not you as yourself. It helped me a lot when I shifted my focus. Recognize your tiny achievements and treat yourself for them.
