I have had a 60%+ increase in volume from this time last year, but we have not had a new hire in my role to assist with the influx. Additionally, others in my department are overworked and they're delegating down to me.
So not only do I gave more work than ever, I'm doing tasks outside my original role
My supervisor cant get headcount approvals. We are suffering as a department. I don't want to overrule him, but should I go to HR?I'm breaking down at this point and see evidence others are too
Find out what the situation is what they need or want, then let them know what you are able to do or provide at the time and if that isn't enough, give them contact info for the person who can do more. Let them know that its all you can do for them.
One way is to ignore them and hope they will leave. Another way is to confront them and ask them to leave. Finally, you can call the police if the situation becomes too dangerous.
I usually just ignore them and continue doing my job. I try to stay calm and professional, even if they are being rude to me. I know that it is not worth getting upset over something that I cannot control.
My first step is to try and resolve the situation. I would politely ask the patron to change their behavior. If the patron does not listen or continues to be rude, I would then ask them to leave the restaurant.
First and foremost, it's important to stay calm and professional at all times. If the patron is being verbally abusive, try to diffuse the situation by apologizing for whatever they're upset about, even if it's not your fault. If they continue to be disruptive, you may need to ask them to leave.
Figure out why they are being rude and try to solve it if you can. If they are rude for the sake of it, keep your interactions short and sweet. Then, go to the back with you coworkers and vent.
