How do you deal with the fact you’re under paid? I know you can always switch but recently (just less than a year) switched to my current firm.

Maybe you shouldn't accept offers that are underpaid

likehelpfulfunny

Document why you believe you are underpaid, illustrate why you are worth paying more. If you can prove that, have a chat with your management, it should go pretty well

Beyond the above, remember that comparison is the thief of joy. Certainly fight for what you're worth, but people will always make more than you and some of those aren't worth it.

I echo C1. Ive done that before and it went over well. The worst they can say is no. At which point you can just leave the firm.

this.... you can live in a low cost of living area and receive a juicy cali/dc offer

Despite our leadership’s best efforts sometimes, I really enjoy my coworkers, (most of my) clients and work life balance flexibility opportunities - that’s a really rare combination in consulting so I’m mostly ok with knowing there are others getting paid more (sometimes substantially more).

Doesnt bother me. I'm paid well enough to hit my goals by target dates. Everything over that is gravy.

I’ve got about 20 years cross channel experience in marketing, split between big brands and startups, and I’m considering pivoting into a data science/data analyst role. I know it will initially be a step back in comp but is it at all realistic for a person with certificate level experience in data analysis but a decent marketing management background to expect $150-200k comp or is that mostly for degreed candidates (or not realistic at all)? Any guidance here is greatly appreciated.

I was fired last month after a short time at the company. I knew things weren't going well- it was a terrible culture fit & I was also planning my exit strategy. They wouldn't give me specific reasons other than to vaguely say it was performance related. I agree I made a few dumb mistakes (none of any dire consequence) but what kills me is that I tried really hard. I don't want to change careers but I have a deep seeded fear that no matter how hard I try, I will never be a "good attorney".
