I don’t know how I’d be able to focus on a race after a threat like this, so shameful https://www.google.com/amp/s/firstsportz.com/formula-one-saudi-arabia-gp-fire-marshall-removed-after-outrageous-agenda-to-hurt-lewis-hamilton-i-hope-he-has-an-accident-like-roman-accident/%3Futm_source%3Ddlvr.it%26utm_medium%3Dtwitter%26amp

Everything you see on social media is fake
Lolol retweet!
Comparison is the thief of joy. The question you should ask yourself is, Am I happy and feel fulfilled by what I do? Does my work give me a sense of purpose?
To me it just sounds like this is a case of “It’s just not fair!”

You will have a solid footing for a long lasting career. These influencers probably aren’t saving and investing the money they are making now and will be years behind in their careers when they stop being an influencer
Wait for them to turn 30
OP you have to realize that they are putting so much work into constantly thinking of and creating new content to make sure they stay relevant and get paid. So while it might seem glamorous through a photo or video, it’s really grueling for most of them.
Dingding by VP, they doing some extra saucey stuff
Well I don’t know what your position in finance is, but I know as a broker, if I had a bunch of friends pulling down YouTube and influencer money, they’d all be my clients and I’d be able to mess around all day too.
My best friend is an influencer and made twice as much as I did for a decade, she has investment ramped up so should be able to retire before 40. But she had to deal with her share of unpleasant interaction with customers, while I get to interact with professionals on a much higher intellectual level. We are both very happy where we are and travel together every year.
The problem is that you hate your job. Time to make a career change.
I think it’s mostly a show. I take comfort in the fact that I make significantly more than those people (the ones I know) and will have a much more stable comfortable lifestyle in the long run despite today’s grind. Can also ball out whenever I want assuming I can find the time.
Also, there’s always an opportunity to move to a role with greater WLB while still commanding a comfy financial situation.
If you wanted to travel and waste your life going to the salon all day, you should have been born rich.
These people can’t afford the lifestyle. Don’t be fooled.
What a lot of people here don’t understand is that influencing and social media is a very real job with a lot of money to be made and it will only get bigger. It is a very legitimate career for many people.

Don't compare yourself to other people. Once I truly internalized that I became a lot happier and was able to recognize all I had achieved, accomplished, and overcome.
I did a National commercial with this 18 year old model when I was like 28 (I look VERY young). I went to graduate school after and accumulated debt. He became a millionaire within 5 years. I had this exact feeling and like ugh
I work in finance and have friends that never believed in higher education or a traditional 9-5 role. They believe they can become as successful as Steve Jobs or Jeff Bezos. All you can really do is wish them the best tbh
Influencers???? Hmmm... take them on as clients?? That’s a no brainer!!! 🤑
I don’t associate with those types.
Stay in your lane. Avoid the lifestyle comparisons. More lasting power, career longevity and intellectual capital in your account.
If I were a narcissist I would definitely be an influencer. They’re making crazy money. Even if it’s shortlived, it can be invested and you can FIRE before 35. Instagrammers with 500k followers make at least $20k/month.
Gotta look at it long term. Do they have the talent to grow that into $100k - $200k plus in the next 5-10 years? Will they be able to maintain or even grow that career with a spouse and possibly kids?
I'm sure I missed out on some fun in the earlier years, but I'm basically financially set for life at 31 (as long as I keep a salaried job), so I'm not complaining.
I think creating content is a hard job - some influencers share that they take a video and edit it for 18-20 hours. This is in addition to the time spent coming up with the idea.
I personally would not find this job interesting or intellectual. You’re better off identifying a job that would make you feel fulfilled and going after it, than making assumptions about what it’s like to do the influencer job. Completely different industries, and I think finance gives you far more opportunities
