How do you decide your breakdown of pre- and post-tax retirement account contributions? I put in 10% of salary post and 6% pre (ACN match) but no idea if this is appropriate.

Depends on your relative tax rate today vs on withdrawal, which is largely a guess. Typically higher earnings in later years, so post tax better for early career, but where you retire and where overall tax rates are in a few decades 🤷🏻‍♂️

Because it’s a guess, I just assume neutral - when assuming neutral - aka same rate forever - it makes the post tax make more sense. Let’s be real - most people will likely need 70% of their income in retirement - which means they drop 1 bracket at best

I try to do as much post tax as possible - to me the pre-tax just doesn’t have a benefit anymore - the 401K Match is pre, but that’s the law - otherwise I do everything I can post across various accounts.

I am saying Roth IRA and Roth 401K is better than a Traditional IRA or Traditional 401K, basically max out on Roth if possible

What would you do: in discussion with a small agency to potentially work full time. They wanted to do a 60 day engagement first to see if its a good fit. Kick the tires from both parties makes sense. They asked for my rates and gave them an hourly freelance rate to where they asked if I’d be willing to do a rate that was based off my “future” un-guaranteed employment salary, less than $100/hr, which was less than half my freelance rate. Does this sound fishy? Am I wrong to be skeptical?

Need opinions: lender services vs a lower MM M&A IB (deal value 60m to 200m/ebitda generally up to 25m) role. I’ve been wanting to pivot to finance for a while now but not sure if going the LMM route sets me up better than just staying in TAS and waiting for a role in ABS/private credit. Short term comp is less of a concern for me since I’m thinking of this LMM IB as a stepping stone move.

Looking for some advice. I made 150k on GME but then lost 100k in the hype. Despite coming out net positive I feel like an idiot for being where I started after gaining so much. I recognize I broke a lot of my trading rules and I essentially was trading on emotion which lead to my loss. If it matters my portfolio is about 80k and I make about the same in salary. So this was the most money I’ve ever handled or even traded. Advice?

I’ve never freelanced before and was asked to provide my day rate for a freelance opportunity by tonight! There’s 2 gigs: the first is a pitch and sounds like a race to the finish/wild Wild West situation. We only have 2 weeks to plan. The 2nd is a 5-week go-to-market strategic plan. Both would be “full time.” Not sure if I can or should provide different rates, and also not sure how much to charge. I have 6 years of experience working as an FTE at an agency. Appreciate any advice! Thanks!!

What are peoples opinions on work from home? It seems to be an unpopular opinion but as a junior I despise it.
