I spent the last 3 months "growing up" & now I'm ready to go. 1st thing is for me to get my own place. I'd like to buy instead of rent because I don't want to pay someone else's mortgage. I'm thinking of selling my car & cash out some of my 401k to buy a house. My thought is to put down 3.5% for a FHA loan then make a big payment towards the principal to reduce long-term interest. Anything wrong with this thinking or anything else I should consider?
I’m currently at a mid tier firm as an experienced senior, just under five years in PA. Joined as a lateral hire about a year ago and compensated above market. I want to focus on tech industry but scheduled on all type of industries from nonprofit, healthcare, manufacturing, food and beverage and etc. it’s very hard to get out of the engagements I’m currently on and switched to tech exclusively. Should I consider moving to Big4 for better opportunities?
Why is pharma/healthcare unpopular? Have seen a few things in the bowl and just curious!
I’m at the end of my rope. My AMD went on maternity leave a month ago and at this point, it doesn’t seem like they’re going to get a temp replacement. I’m expected to work up and put together plans for 2022 almost all on my own while taking time to train new AMPs and MPs. My director expects me to delegate to them when they have little to no background. I know I should probably start looking elsewhere but I feel like with the Great Resignation, it’s going to be the same anywhere else.
Should I do a Roth or traditional 401k if I hope to stop working around 45-50? Planning to max it out no matter what but torn between the two.
How are you guys preparing for next year? I'm thinking of of using Facebook ads to generate seminar invites in hopes of replacing mailing. Doesn't cost much to try and see if I get any benefits
I know the UK pays less but I am seeing differences of $80-100k for Advisory M at one of the Big 4. Why in the world are salaries so low? And don’t say healthcare. My healthcare is like $140/month for a PPO w low deductible. Plus taxes are less here. Makes the thought of a potential move over there hard :/
Does anyone practice healthcare law? More specifically pharmacy? It’s a new area of mine and I am STRUGGLING. What helped you? I have plenty of free time to grow! Any guidance is appreciated.
Anyone use loans for renovation on a flip before? I’m looking for about $20K to work with and am debating taking it from my 401K vs loans
I’m being considered for an an Assistant Controller role and have a final “meeting” with the Controller and VP of Finance. The recruiter let me know Im the only remaining candidate being considered, so the Controller and VP of Finance want to talk on Friday to discuss long-term strategies for the accounting department and company, the immediate challenges facing the team, and any other questions I may have. Other than compensation/benefits questions, is there anything I should ask them? (cont)
Ideas on the programs to motivate remote workers to exercise/be physically active? Apart from step counts and paying for a gym membership. We already have monthly reimbursement but I'm looking into ways to engage people and motivate them to actually use the money for the purpose. Some internal campaigns or funny competition but how to measure progress?
For corporate amex platinum, do I have to pay the full amount every month? I am still waiting for my company's reimbursement and am wondering if I can wait it out. Do I accrue interest on corp card?
Any tips on finding motivation after maternity leave? I’ve never been so uninterested in my job and am instead just thinking of all the time i’m missing with my baby 😕
I left my former employer in Q4 2019 but didn’t rollover my Roth 401k prior to the crash, so I’ve left it there this whole time and it’s rebuilt nicely (not back to where it was, but closer)...cont
How much are you putting into your 401k? I’m thinking 10% of my paychecks. About me: 29F, 140K annual salary, company match 6%

Does anyone have any insight on what is entailed during an “expertise chat” at McK in Healthcare Services & Technology? I spoke to a recruiter and made it through to the next step. The next step is the expertise chat before moving on to the official first round interview. Any insight appreciated.
What is your 401k strategy? Do you use max matching from your org? Do you go above your org's matching limit to save more? Any other TAX SAVING tips on your pre-tax earnings?
Hi folks - we're a small company just under 100 people almost evenly split between employees and consultants across North America and APAC. We're looking to implement a new HR system that we can start to leverage for onboarding, comp & benefits, payroll (pay slips/tax), reporting capabilities etc. Any recommendations? Thanks in advance! :)
In search of advice here: I have a hybrid background in design and management. I have an opportunity to join a team as a designer and am also getting traction on an application for account management. I feel comfortable and excited doing both. How can I decide on which avenue to take? Which is better for long term growth and $$? Both options are roughly same salary. One is fully WFH one is temp WFH with 2-3day in office next spring.
What’s the culture like at Strategy& Atlanta?
Does anyone have the 2020 SHRM books for sale or to borrow? My job won’t contribute towards my certification. I’ve already paid for my test. I have the books from 2015 but I’d like to study from the 2020. I tried finding them online to purchase but sellers of affordable books aren’t responding.
Would appreciate some perspective: my SO, who I live with, is closely following coronavirus and it’s to a point where he’s asked that we wash our hand every time we get home, ctd:
Has anyone ever worked at a startup that had a lot of issues getting funding? I feel like it would be smart to look for a new job but if I stay and we get the funding I get a big raise and promotion
I just heard that i lost out on a FAANG position after making it through to the final round. I prepped incredibly hard for these interviews, and I'm absolutely gutted. There was one interviewer who was unengaged and I did my best to win her over but maybe she thought I was a smartass instead. Anyway, just wanted to vent. I don't know how I'm going to build up the confidence to go through a process like this again without second guessing every statement I make during an interview.

I am having an informal job interview tomorrow at a different firm for almost 30% more pay. Any points I should keep in mind because I would be switching to them with only < 1 YOE from my current place?
Received advice to keep my badge upon leaving Deloitte to use later on for employee discounts (hotel/car rentals). Anyone have experience with this?

I realized I only enjoy chasing higher comp. Job switches every 2 years, always looking out for the next bump… it has taken a toll on my mental health. Tried to get hobbies to distract but I find myself back at websites checking comp numbers. Any suggestions to get out of the race?
