Ya discover weekly is different than their regular “made for u” playlist
Spotify constantly inundates me with things I already listen to. Sometimes starting a radio based on a song I particularly like (I have better luck with songs rather than artists) can yield some results.
But I’ve got the real hookup:
lesgarconsbieneleves.com
It’s a radio/playlist updated about once a week. They go with a loose theme each time so some may not be to your liking, but you can find gems.

To be honest I use YouTube a lot. Tons of random live performances from all over the world and everyone seems to put their official music videos up there as well.
RT this! Youtube has been great at recommending smaller artists that i never would encountered on spotify lately

Spotify daily “made for you” playlists and artist/song radio.
What bands do you like, specifically? I might have some recco’s 😊

My “made for me” playlists do sometimes bring me to music that is new to me, but frequently the artists are not from the last decade or two 😂 I have a really varied taste in music from classic rock to the misfits to the 80s DIY punk scene to all three waves of emo, would love any reccos you have!
I listen to Spotify lists, like top 100 and suggested new music based on what I listen to
KEXP.org during the day. Evenings (starting 6 PT) are themed, but you might find you like things you didn't know you liked.

Bonus question for NYers- where do you go to shows? Do you think there is still a “scene” in NY? (Pre-lockdown of course)
Knockdown Center, Brooklyn steel, baby’s all right, Bowery ballroom
