Interested to hear how people learn project management. I have done PRINCE2 exam and read PMP materials, but I find these are too textbook theory based. Real life projects seem to be very different and a lot more complicated. I often do not know what needs to be done unless someone tells me. I believe you can learn these things on the job, but I am keen to expedite this with some books or courses. Are there any resources that are particularly helpful?
What partners actually have project work right now? Certified in ABS, US payroll, and HCM trying to roll off this call center project that I've now been planted on until april.
Potential agency boomerang having a hard time making a decision to stay brand-side or go back. Need some advice! Do I leave the brand, being "the client," fun work, great WLB, as well as the most toxic work environment I've ever experienced and meh pay? Do I go back to agency lead a new team with significant responsibilities, forget about WLB, sell my soul alongside smart people, get great pay and benefits? PS: I'm a mom and brand-side for 5 years. What do I need to know!? Thank you!
Deloitte 🐠: Can people who got 1 or 2 ratings before share your metrics, i.e client/adj utilization, PRD hours, applaud awards, anything else...Thanks!
Last step of an interview process, I’ve received a case study where a new player enters the market with a cheaper and better proposition. Not dramatic movement of the market has been detected, but customers are asking for similar offers and the market seems to loose its “dynamics”. The client is asking my firm to develop a strategy to fend its clients data base and revenue stream from the new player. - 1h presentation, any suggestions on how to structure the problem?
Anyone use IBM cognos? Manager is pushing us to use it. I get how it could maybe be valuable for internal reports, but the graphics are just not up to par for client deliverables in my opinion
All week my senior manager has used me as his verbal punching bag. It’s been a stressful week with the client and I know he is taking his frustrations out on me. I’ve broken down multiple times everyday (granted I’m on my period and a bit emotional). I’ve never experienced this before and I’m not sure how to handle it. I just can’t take another week of this behavior. Has anyone had a similar experience? How did you handle the situation?
What’s the end goal for tech consultants at a big 4? Is it partnership? What if you want to remain technical / not lose tech skills? I enjoy problem solving but seem but also enjoy being client facing and feel like I’m at a crossroad
Have phase 1 of a project ending in a month or so. Phase 2 should start right after. How do I roll off on a good note?
What are your tips, tricks or best practices for creating project estimates? We’re often asked to provide costs when we know very little, so how do you estimate?
Worst city you've had a project in
On a new project serving in a Product Manager role, any certifications, courses, books etc you’d recommend?
Quitting the firm in the next two months and have 15 PTO days left unused. Does it make sense to roll off my project and then use my 15 days of PTO before quitting or to cash out my 15 days?
Have to decide between two projects. Org design project at PS client or innovation/chargeable BD at fortune50? Not knowing anything else- which do you think is more valuable experience?
Other managers- how many clients are you on right now? Are you doing everything from senior consultant tasks (execution, documenting materials, leading meetings) to manager tasks (review, rework, billing, budgeting, client decks) across all of them? I feel like I’m being taken advantage of because they expect me to cover for everything but I don’t know what other managers are doing. So not sure if this is the norm (I’m a new manager). What’s manager life at other firms?
My key contact at the client put in their two weeks, and they’re leaving next week. We are still missing a ton of requests from them, and only they can answer a couple of questions. Tips?
Show me an account person who says they properly push back on the client and I will show you a liar.
What are the pay bands at Slalom BA level for 2 YOE? What’s a reasonable as or negotiation? Currently looking at new opportunities and hoping for some more insight about benefits
PSA: some airports without clubs get a credit at restaurants with the CSR Priority Pass. E.g. American Tap gets $28 off/person (up to $56) in terminal C at DCA. I’ve paid for my annual fee by now.
Frankly, I have no patience left for people who are unvaccinated by choice and don’t much care if you all become a statistic before all of this is over. You all deserve the worst case of Covid imaginable, and I hope you get it.
Thoughts on downgrading Chase Sapphire Reserve to Preferred given we’re no longer collecting travel points? Currently about 25000 unspent points.
Any Jeffries people on fishbowl? Looks like they're there to scavenge the remains. RIP Lending Club ⚰⛏http://fortune.com/2016/05/20/lending-club-hires-investment-bank-to-help-it-raise-cash/
Hi there! Am I too late if I want to apply for MBB ops consulting roles as experienced hire? Heard summer recruitment might be starting soon
Thoughts on working primarily remote? Might take a role that offers this. Already familiar with the team so not concerned about that aspect
On delta are you eligible for first class upgrade on a rewards ticket? Or if its points/cash ticket?
One of the best business lessons I ever got was from the Simpsons. Bill gates destroyed homers computer and Internet business and told him "you don't get rich writing lots of checks"
A get that people want things to be back to normal and offices are starting to open back up, but delta clearly seems to be picking up and we will likely have to roll back very soon. Feels like we are back in early March 2020 when Covid hit the US and we took much longer than necessary to respond
How is spend at Marriott calculated? Just the nightly rate? Or the final bill that includes all sorts of tax?
A pretty good exit
Does Accenture do H1B transfers in US?
Anyone have any suggestions for the lowest expense ratio mutual funds that I can set up auto investing in? I use Vanguard. Thanks!
Thinking about an MBA but failed accounting in undergrad... Basically, I got a D in my accounting class but ended up with a decent GPA (3.67). If I wanted to get my MBA (I’ve only casually thought about it) should I retake accounting? Would the grade severely hurt my chances? Any thoughts are appreciated :)
I Have more sparetime now (Thanks Covid!) and I wanted to invest it in data skills related courses. I found one on data camp called "Data Skills for Business" and then was planning to continue with their "data analyst with Python" career track. What do you think of those two courses? Sinon, do you have any suggestions for better alternatives? Thanks! 🙏🏻
Deloitte S&O folks that were at ACN, how are you liking it so far? I'm in the middle of the interview process currently but there's been a few fishbowl posts stating the S&O culture as being terrible
Have an approved h1b starting Jan 15 2020. Current f1 expires Jan 15 2020 as well. Is it possible to leave the country in December, get the h1b stamp, and come back on h1b but *before* h1b start date?
