I didn’t get asked one for my current role and it’s looking like I won’t for the one I’m interviewing for now.
To be fair, all anyone ever does is pick people they know will say really good things anyway. So maybe removing them just saves everyone time.

My neighbor is a bit creepy/lonely (?). He comes over to chat when I’m outside working on the house or doing yard work and doesn’t catch on too well to social cues. He’ll mention small details about my routine or new changes to the house (just moved in). It’s a bit uncomfortable and I’ve had a few awkward moments with him already. Anyone else have any odd or awk neighbor experiences? How do you dealllll when you just don’t want to interact?

Any illustrators here with a rep??
I’ve successfully started freelancing full time since being laid off from my full time job in March. I’m so grateful I have plenty of work to do but I’m feeling overwhelmed at the learning curve of being a freelancer. Does anyone have any tips on how they manage their time and client expectations, along with everything else? Or any books that they found helpful? I’m so guilty of being a yes man and then getting overwhelmed.
My contract is up mid Dec right before I travel out of the country for 3 weeks. Is it a good idea to reach out now about new opportunities, or should I wait until I’m back?
Any mid-senior ADs want to partner up for a possible 8 week project? I don’t know the agency, client, or rate yet. They are looking for a team with lots of social experience. The recruiter reached out to me. I’m just looking for a partner.
For those of you who quit your FT gig to go freelance, how did you prepare? I‘m ready to stop fantasizing and start getting ready to launch, but I want to make sure I’m setting myself up for success.

So I’ve finally finished my consulting website for my “side hustle.” Here’s the issue: I have a full time job doing the same thing I’ll be doing as a consultant (strategy.) In the guidebook I signed at my full-time company, the only note re: consulting is that you cannot work for competitors of agency clients. Of course I won’t be doing that and will be stringent about who my clients are, but how do I advertise my new consulting LLC without concerning my employer, particularly on LinkedIn?
is it a conflict of interest to do freelance work for two clients in the same industry at the same time? or is it a don’t ask, don’t tell kind of thing?

Would it be bad to take a contract to hire position if I only want to do the contract part and not stay on afterwards?
Did my first freelance gig for an agency last week. Just a one-week stint of high level concepting. Made the mistake of not writing up a contract beforehand, just had a verbal agreement of my daily rate.
Finished the project and they loved what I brought them. Now haven’t heard back after sending the invoice. I know it was recent, still a little worried I’m going to get ghosted. Anyone else ever deal with this?
Trying to work directly with agencies as a freelancer. What are some best practices to reach out and avoid 3rd party recruiters for contract work?
Reminder to my freelance friends: Your job is to be the easiest person in the world to work with. Easy easy easy. (That makes it easy for them to keep giving you money, too!)
I’m not convinced that contracting on 1099 is better than W2, since you pay 15% extra self employment tax.
If you have one 1099 gig you can claim all your expenses for the year against that and then go W2 for the rest. Am I missing something?
I’ve been dabbling with the idea of getting into copywriting as something to soon the side but I have no experience doing it. What steps should I take (books to read, gigs to start with or pursue, etc) if I want to go from $0 and next to ) experience to $40k or so a year?
Right now I’m currently unemployed and taking a break from my fine art stuff to try to get back into tech sales, but I was looking to expand my skill set and also generate extra money at the same time.
