For a haircut...never option 2. At least not me

I just think it’s too much money for a haircut. I found a stylist that I love which charges $45 for a haircut, I have no need to look elsewhere. If I didn’t have her, I’d still look for another one in that same range. My sister has gone to a celebrity hairstylist and she was disappointed. Overhyped, big ego, and he did his own thing, not necessarily what my sister asked for.
I pay around $60 with tip. I’ve been going to the same person for 10 years now, and she has always done an excellent job with my hair. I see a different between her and salons I went to before where you can typically walk in, but I could never justify $200.
My color is what’s expensive! $120 every 6-8 weeks. I think I’ll just dye it a cool gray color once I turn 50!

I choose the hair stylist who will do the best job with my hair. Have never had to spend $200 and that would be way above what the best would be in my state, but I will pay top dollar (in my geo area - here i pay $95 and have top person) to get and keep the best person. Prices vary by region. I had to pay more when I lived in So Cal. But good hair is worth it!

No, it’s $95 and I add a $20 tip.
I spend $210 for a haircut AND partial color (including tip) in DC....I can’t imagine spending $200 just on a haircut? Unless you’re going for a blunt bang or asymmetrical bob or something and need a celebrity stylist?
I’ll admit, I spend $300-400 every time I get my hair done. HOWEVER, I have thin hair and not a lot of it. Before going to the salon, I didn’t have as much confidence because a I hated my hair. So, I get 2 rows of NBR added to my hair for the volume. I also go to a high end stylist who uses quality products and she cuts and colors my hair each time. I go every 8-10 weeks.
If I naturally had beautiful hair, I wouldn’t spend that.
I get cheap haircuts but splurge on color.
Just paid $400 for cut and full foil. Includes 25% tip. HCOL City, but laid-back stylist + exceptional colorist I luckily stumbled upon several years ago. Have a very simple hairstyle, tho.
