How do you feel about putting on hold your family expansion plans because of a recent promotion? Do you think it’s a normal thing to do? And if so, how long is the normal waiting period? Knowing that the parental leave is about 6 months!

I don't know how old you are, but I'm single and turning 38 in a month. I would never wait based on a promotion or a job. But that's bc I'm getting older and my window is closing. Think of yourself, your partner and what y'all want for your future. There will always be a job/promotion to think about, but there's a time limit on this other stuff.

I say kill it in this new position and then start trying. Should give you about 9 months. Just got promoted so now your in learning phase, then establish some best practice, then things usually smooth out in 2 quarters so by the 3rd quarter you can start trying, then you tell you employer once you’re 3 months in to your trimester. It’s a good timeline. We don’t want you left with only 1 healthy egg

Might be unpopular but as a mom of two I'd say wait if you can! There's really no rush, you will enjoy your time with a baby more if you're not stressed about what people at work will think. When you've established yourself in the role and have support and respect it's really much easier! I had this exoerince with my first and actually came back stronger and promotable even quicker.

You have no idea how long or IF you'll get pregnant. Do both.

I don’t have children but I think you should talk with your partner about this

I understand, but remember this is your life and you have to do what is best for you and your family first. God forbid you pass, they would just find another person to replace you.

If you feel ready for kids otherwise, don’t wait too long. You never know how long it will actually take to get pregnant - some people struggle for years

My house got egged and tped over the weekend. I took it upon myself to reach out to the parents and let them know I've already called the cops but wanted to reach out to you first before the cop shows up on your door. 1 set of parents immediately shifted blame to me and bashed me as a teacher and told me they think I have it out for their son and didn't address the situation at hand. How can I move forward with this situation?

Why don't more (white collar) Americans take breaks in-between jobs? Like a month or two summer break. Is this mindset that you need to work all the time a vestige from back when people would work at the same company for 40 years until they die?

(1 of 2) Help needed... Context: Married with first baby on the way. Plan is for my spouse to stay home with our (future) kids for next few years. My income is $250-300K and keeping it that way for a while as I’ve moved off partner track for at least 2-3 years as we start our family. $120K in retirement accounts, $70K in cash, $50K in home equity, and $6K in HSA Beyond mortgage, only debt is a $25K private loan that we can pay back any time in next 5 yrs. and isn’t accruing interest.

I am a mom of a 4 year and a 15 month old. I feel like this pandemic exhaustion has taken a toll on me as a mom. I used to be a conscious, creative and a gentle parent with some terrible moments. Now, I am just more angry, mean to my 4 year old and get triggered easily. It’s so so so hard and I know we’ll get through this BUT I think my kids are just going to hate me soon:( how do I get out of this vicious cycle of losing my shit —- feelinguilty - vowing to be a better parent??

Okay moms- HOW did y’all get through your first trimester when you had to actually go to the office/to shoots/to literally anything? Before you can tell people that you’re pregnant and that’s why you’re so out of it? I’m struggling, and I’m working from home. I just cannot fathom not being 10 feet from my bed/a bathroom. I’m feeling so lucky, and also in awe, and also like, okay so I just have to wait for another pandemic to have another kid so I can be home for the first trimester again?

How much do you target in your kid’s 529? Given tuition inflation, and the vast cost difference across public and private schools, how do you think about a target number? I currently have ~$60k saved for my 8 year old and I’m wondering if I’m on track.

MIL wanted to make her first Mother’s Day as a gram special and invited herself to visit us this weekend. I had told him to agree bc we are hosting every other family member (incl. step mom) this month. Pray for us bc this weekend is going to tough.
