How many firms is too many? I’ve practiced 13 years. Since I was a 1st year associate, every 3 years or so I’ve been recruited for another opportunity that is hard to pass up. I’ve been at my current firm 3 years and got the call again, again about an opportunity that is hard to pass up. I don’t like having a reputation of a flight risk, but this keeps happening. Should I decline to pursue the opportunity just so I have a longer track record at my current firm? This will be my 4th if I move.

Having been in the industry for 10 yrs what salary should I expect and negotiate around? Does this position typically come with bonuses or additional compensations? Any insight would be appreciated.

Would love to get your input on this but how do you guys feel about consulting, especially with a STEM background? I have worked on studies where we make recommendations that anybody with a basic scientific/engineering knowledge will say “yea, no f-ing sh*t. We want to do that too. Automatic red flag to have an engagement kickoff just before the holidays, receive emails at all hours of the day (to include weekends/holidays), be told there’s a lot to do but “it’ll be a great opportunity”, and then be told leadership wants people to prioritize work life balance? Figured I’d be looking for an exit soon, but this just pushed it up.

Do you get to enjoy the travel part of consulting? What are some details on flex programs some consultancies offer? I heard some firms let you fly out SOs instead of a trip back home as long as the costs are the same.

Asking because one piece of consulting I am interested in is the travel opportunities.

I currently work as an APM at a FAANG company but recently received an offer to join an MBB. I’m very excited about the role but didn’t realize I’d need to take a pay cut when I applied (~100k base + ~20k bonus + ~60k equity vs. 90k base + 10-20k bonus). Considering that I currently work 40-60 hours/week, I’ll be making significantly less per hour at the MBB. I’m very interested in the opportunity but also don’t want to make a poor financial decision early in my career. Thank you for your time!
