Additional Posts in Career Pivot
Would love to hear about your gardening leave experience, especially in the event production sector, i.e. Gartner, Forrester, etc. I’m planning my resignation and I’m unsure if I should plan my next endeavor around it. I plan to continue my career in event production but as an in-house producer for a solution provider, any advice would be greatly appreciated!
I interviewed for Data Analyst role at EY, it went well and the job sounds great, but I'm a bit hesitant to leave PwC because I really like the firm and I'm just 8 months in my job as an associate at a subgroup of ITS that has some focus on technology and analytics but it's mostly tax compliance.
I do want to transition to data analytics but I'm not sure if it's a good idea to go to another big 4, or maybe just look for a position in industry.
Any advice or similar experience?

IF you're asking this question, it is likely you just haven't found something that resonates enough with you to invest more of your time. It's like dating someone... you haven't found the one to marry.
So... date more.
Do many things early in your career. Get a variety of experiences. If you're in an agency, seek out a different client team, seek out a department transfer, seek out an international transfer etc... get a portfolio of experieces... or change company, try a new industry.
If you don't find something, it is OK. Sometimes your "thing" isn't from work... it could be from your pastime or your family.
Whatever you do, make sure you have a reason for it. Have a way to explain your changes. Like finding a partner, don't change too quickly. Give yourself some time to evaluate if this is truly for you or not.
This is so helpful, thank you.
If there is something you might be interested in but aren't ready to make a full pivot, see if there is a way to volunteer your time towards it, or help lead an project that will help you gain those skills. This will allow to to try it on before going all in.
life Strategy
I used experimental approach to life and it did magic. I used to be a strategy consultant working with c suites of global companies on their growth strategies.
When I left consulting and certified as I coach, I was stunned how people never took nearly as rigorous and strategic approach to their lives as companies do. And it's kind of shame because life is your most precious enterprise.
So as I was changing my life and leaving consulting industry all together trying to figure out what to do next, I have applied tools and techniques from the world of innovation and strategy as well as coaching and psychology. Since I found this process incredibly helpful, I have turned it into step by step program to help people in need of a new chapter. It's called life strategy. I'm happy to share more if this is interesting!
