the insurance company that provides insurance for your employer should have a website (for example blue cross blue shield) with a search function that allows you to search for in-network providers.
i used psychology today’s search function and filtered by the type of therapy i was interested in, and insurance they take
no problem, good luck!
Here's a helpful guide which contains resources for finding a therapist (under "Links & books" at the bottom) and determining if the therapist is the right one for you: https://psyche.co/guides/how-to-pick-the-therapist-who-is-right-for-you
Agree with associate attorney 1 about using Psychology Today to research and check out some of their websites. Also check your EAP. They might be able to help with finding one and should at least cover a few sessions.
Once you call, the therapist should set up a short 15 min consultation call to get in line on expectations from both sides and understand what you’re hoping to get. I really encourage you to think about this- i never thought much about this before starting therapy and think i would have found a therapist match sooner if i had.
Therapists have different styles and unfortunately it can take trying out a few until you find one that works- don’t give up if you aren’t vibing with your first one! I’ve had a few and have been with my current one for 5 years. Don’t be afraid to filter by seemingly trivial issues- for example, it was important to be to go to a female who is relatively close in age to me.
