So I just recently passed my CPA exams and I’m now looking for new opportunities. I’m hoping to work at a big 4 firm in tax and possibly connect with anyone working there right now. Please reach out to me, I would look forward to connecting and learning more about potential opportunities. Thanks!EY PwC Deloitte KPMG

Your degree is probably better for consulting than accounting lol
The degree doesn’t matter... I had colleagues with philosophy degrees.
Are you actually referring to Audit? Because I think acct degrees might be seen as... Big4 ish
What?

You’d be a fit for the Finance Consulting teams. Look at F&EP for Deloitte or PI Finance for EY
I’ve never done anything accounting related in my 5 years at Big 4 consulting. But definitely ready to move to MBB so people like OP stop mistaking me for an accountant 😫
... I have a degree in English and have been in consulting for 5 years. But candidly you get a referral from someone and interview.
How did you leverage your English major into consulting?
No need for any specific degree - getting the job isn’t dependent on it. People in consulting typically have a wide range of degrees from English, philosophy, mechanical engineering, physics, econ, etc.

OP, you're thinking of the Big 4 audit branches. Their consulting branches are separate and recruit different types of talent from audit - zero focus on recruiting folks with accounting degrees.
Thank you!! Do you have any more detail on what the work might look like, then? I was imagining all accounting all the time haha
I have a political science degree. Degrees don’t matter in consulting
No, there's tons of people who aren't accountants - the B4 perform consulting services on loads of topics that have no connection to accounting. I was B4 for several years in Advisory LOS, and I am not an accountant nor did I ever work on a project that involved providing accounting-related services.
I moved to B4 from industry, and was hired by the team that provided consulting services in my area of expertise - I would assume that is often the case for non-accountant hires.
FYI: Big4's largest revenue stream for the most part is now consulting, not audit. Audit is the bread and butter but no longer the rainmaker. Audits are almost commodities now while there's some differentiation in consulting so higher margins to be made there.
Psst former Big 4 and currently SM at a non audit consultancy and I have ZERO degree. Find an in and waltz on into consulting.
Big4 is a mix of Tax, Audit, Risk and Compliance, Advisory, Consulting or similar areas but with different names. You do not have to be an accountant for most of those. I was Deloitte Cybersecurity advisory. I had colleagues that had English and history degrees.
