How do you get motivated to get active especially going into the dark season? I’m 37, 217lbs, and flirting with high blood pressure, learning now that there’s underlying hereditary heart issues. Diet isn’t too bad, been working with a nutritionist to improve further, but the big thing is exercise and sleep. It seems impossible to wake up early enough to fit in before kids get up, then life and work burn through the day, and before I know it, the kids are in bed, and I’m ready to doze off.

I have nothing to say about how to fit it into your schedule., but walking and a few diet changes helped me lose 40 pounds over a year. I walk a mile 5 days a week after I drop my kid off at school and before I have to be at work. It started off taking 30ish minutes and now it’s just 20 minutes. Best wishes ❤️

You got it!!

Do you happen to work remote? Squeezing in a 30 min workout at lunch/in between meetings might be doable!
Or split into a few 10 min walks throughout the day, even if you don’t work remote.
Sometimes if it’s just crazy busy that day, I’ll do a few different time boxed peloton workouts split up (doesn’t have to be on the bike if you don’t have one- strength, cardio, core, etc.), and get little things done in between. For example- 20 min strength, switch the laundry, then 10 min cardio, pop dinner in the oven, then 10 min core. And a full workout is done. It’s not relaxing by any means but gets the job done.

I like to speed walk on a walking treadmill at an incline will watching a movie. Maybe this is something you can do with your kids? So you are exercising and entertaining at the same time.

smart

What time do the kids get to bed? What time do you wake up? It’s counterintuitive but working out will give you more energy so you just sort of have to force it when you start.

I basically do 2-3 weeknights of late workouts (start at 8:30-9) and do anywhere from 30-60 min. Then always get two good weekend workouts in.

Weekdays I get up around 7. Kids. Work. Dinner, bath, and bedtime. Then just suck it up for force the workout. I lift a bit then do some incline treadmill walking (home gym is so huge here for the late night). Shower. Read. Asleep by 10:30-11. Nights I don’t workout are focused on quality time with the wife.

Are you trying to lose weight? Working out won’t really do that. That is diet. And adding some low effort walking in. If the goal is weight loss, download MacroFactor and just nail the macros on there. Set an aggressive goal and get after it.

👋🏻 New mom here. I’m seeing a lot of comments about parents opting for “no sleepover” rules. Is this because of Covid, or is this a new thing? I went to sleepovers all the time as a kid and just wondering what reasons beyond a case-by-case basis would be to have this rule? Not judging, just genuinely curious.

Got in a car accident and havent been sure how to deal with getting care. I use the VA and they paid for my ER visit, some medication, and a primary visit. I need to see a chiropractor but I'm not really sure what I'm supposed to do since that's the only insurance I use and they take months to get any appointments in presently.

It was the other drivers fault but I have to come out of pocket until care is completed then haggle w/ em. Do I wait on the VA? Just pay cash to someone local? Recs?

I’ve suffered from workaholism for a long time. Thanks to a lot of great self help books and therapy, I’m no longer putting work on a pedestal and I’m spending a lot more time on self care and my marriage. But, unfortunately, I am now getting withdrawals, because my body is used to the daily adrenaline of throwing myself into work. It’s this terrible feeling of like anguish/unease in my gut, but I don’t have anything I’m worried about- it’s like my body wants to find something to worry about.

Okay everyone, I need to rant here.

I'm so sick and tired of getting an email everyday! And I mean every single day getting a COVID 19 email saying there are cases.

My school gets so many cases, I firmly believe we need to go back on lock down and online. This is getting ridiculous that we put state funding over the well being of our students and staff!! I dont want to get sick nor get covid or spread it to our students.

And our job wonders why no one wants to work for us and stay working.

Hello, I wasn’t sure if anyone could help as pedi is not my thing. I have an out of state friend whose daughter is non verbal. She is 3 YO but alert. She is going for a procedure and needs a Covid 3 days prior. Mom is terrified as her daughter will be traumatized by the this making it extremely difficult to get her to the actual procedure. I asked her if they could do a rapid but the hospital said it’s 3 days before because it’s cheaper. Any pediatricians on here know of a better way? TIA Karen
