Looking to get a referral for BDO SALT practice.
Hello,
Last Wednesday I was able to get a Deloitte job referral, I applied the next day. Yesterday I signed in to my account and it shows that I applied for the job but when I click on the link it show me an error page. I searched for the job on the website itself and it disappeared. There were like multiple positions but different locations, now they’re all expired. What does this mean? Did they choose a candidate already? It’s weird it never happened to me before
Thank you in advance 🙏🏻

Definitely talk to your manager. Especially if you have a solid relationship. Any good manager will want to keep you and do whatever they can. Especially with the shortage of us out there. If you haven’t made a move in the last year or so, chances are you are underpaid now compared to the rest of the market.
And my advice to everyone out there is to put pretty firm boundaries on work-life balance. Employees are in control now. Especially in BA. Micromanaging, not listening to better ways of working, forcing work at nights and weekends is no longer acceptable.
I've change job several times because it was the only way to increase my salary. It's unfortunately but the reality of the industry. It's also been helpful that I have a few friends in the business and we've all discussed our salaries. It makes it easier to know what the market is and what I could ask for. Good luck.
Honestly, it all depends on what kind of work you’re doing. Are you doing legal, partnerships, experiential, influencers, union and non union, and creative review? You may be appropriately compensated for the work you do or you may be underpaid. If you think you’re that underpaid, you should discuss with your director and start taking meetings.
Also, after a LOT of contemplation on this topic, I’m not countering anymore. If they want to leave now, then they will want to leave later. I pay my team members very competitively for their experience, ensure they’re constantly learning new things, and changing up the type of work and/or client as needed. I also make sure they have work/life balance and take time off. If they can’t have an honest conversation with me during monthly 1:1s before they have an offer in hand, then they are missing some skills (nor learned them in their time with us) that we needed anyway.
I don’t know which office you’re in but the LA office has a reputation for being a country club - if you’re trying to compare that to a 72/ MAL/D5 then you’re comparing apples to oranges. 40 hrs/week vs 60+, so take that into account too.
Hope this helps.
Yea this helps. Thanks so much.
Have you asked for a raise? If they don't pay you what you feel you are worth, why would you stay?
