Given you’re an AE and you’ve only been working there six months, perhaps along the lines of learning more about how your company works financially, you could have a coffee with a more senior account person or a finance person and ask them to educate you and ask them questions about the company’s p&l, financial and budgeting process, etc, and as part of that ask about the raise cycles and processes. It’s something you should learn about anyway, would help you with your goal, and would make you look like someone interested in the business side of the business

Compile a case for why you’re valuable. Go to your boss and make sure you make them feel like you see them as an ally. Present your case - specifics of what you’ve achieved and contributed. Ask them to advocate for your raise. If they turn you down, ask for a plan for how to get you to that raise. It’s okay to cite cost of living increases, but focus on what you’re doing to earn that raise and what you hope to achieve. Don’t threaten to leave unless you have another offer.

I’m thinking that in another 6 months I’d like to ask for a raise, as I believe I’m taking on way more than some AE would. I’m happy to do it, but money is an issue. Would love to hear anyone’s advise.

if an employee would ask me for a raise after 6 months I would be pissed. why didn’t u negotiate right from the beginning? how much did u really get to prove in 6 months?

Nowhere in my post I said I’m planning to ask for a raise right now - that was more of a question thinking about the future, what’s so wrong with that? I haven’t yet been in the position of asking for a raise hence why. As to why I didn’t negotiate, I needed to get out of a toxic company plus I really wanted to work on this account. And as I said, I’m very happy with the team and how it all worked out. I can evaluate my performance based on knowing how much work I actually do and on entirely positive feedback from my superiors, client and internal team members, and taking on more than my job description would imply. Thank you to everyone else for the helpful comments.

I think I'm mentally checking out of work. If I accept the promotion to Partner/Principal what's the least number of years I could work without it being a financial mistake. I have an opportunity to do something completely unrelated that's my passion, but I feel like that's the wrong decision when I'm this close. The other opportunity should still be there for 2-3 years

You started at a new role/company 2 months ago that is +50% your previous TC, a level promotion, and you’re happy with the team and scope. However you’re also currently in a long distance relationship with a SO you love and have been with for 4 years. The relationship is starting to crack and moving abroad to be with her seems like the best decision to kee the relationship. How would you play this out sirs/maams? Ask manager to work abroad and quit if they reject it? Thx for the feedback 😔

Any insight into Mastercard Advisors? Have a new grad opportunity there. My start date at a B4 strat got postponed so decided to interview around. I'm interested in data + analytics and would want to go into industry eventually, but conflicted because unlike BA programs at CapOne or Visa, you're still working for an external client. Feel like there will be a broader variety of projects in B4 and while I'm casually interested in fintech, I don't want to get pigeonholed in FS so early on

I have a question, but to put it in context takes more characters than this allows--I'll explain more in a reply. Briefly, I struggled through seven miserable years of teaching until I finally got asked back by a school in 2019. My classroom management was disastrous; I knew it, but couldn't seem to fix it. Then I took a seminar, and got better. It really was that simple, though of course I'm still learning. So, can classroom management be taught? I believe so, but no one else seems to agree.
