Building trust... I assume you mean "not cheating"? Don't cheat. Call her/him when you can. Text pictures of what you're up to... If you don't "trust" each other, then break up - long distance ain't for you.
I would quit while you’re ahead. This likely isn’t going to get better.

You either trust, or you don’t. No amount of communication will fix a lack of trust.

A big thing for a long distance is an action plan. You need to have x meetings per month/quarter and stick to it if your relationship will work. Then you need to have a long term plan to be in the same area. If you have neither of those it will never work.
For the trust issues thing that’s just a matter of time m. As time goes on and the passion cools a little bit the trust issues will lessen and eventually go away, but until then you just have to live with the discomfort. I’m 2.5 years in and I was very jealous at first but eventually you come to trust your partner more and accept life for what it gives you. I’ll occasionally get pangs of jealousy.
Always be honest. Do exactly what you say. Be compassionate toward the feelings of your SO. Trust can take time - be willing to invest it.
