It is incredibly demoralizing to be killing myself slogging through diligence for a very complicated target, including drafting an extensive diligence memo, all on a very tight timeline, just to be left off all the interesting calls about the purchase agreement where I could learn b/c partner is concerned about the bill & doesn’t want to write off time. It makes me feel like I’m not on the team & am just a worker bee drone & I am way less motivated to do my best work.
Partners, do better.
I’d start with your firm resources. Many BL offers free therapist and counseling sessions, and you can use that preliminary sessions to determine what you’re in need most (therapy related to work or more personal) and take it from there
Yeah don’t blame you! But the therapists are external service providers provided through a network that contracts with the said BL for most cases, so there’s really no nexus between the two parties. Sessions are made through non-work email and personal cell. Mind as well take full advantage of the little mental health resources that firms provide us imo
The woman who runs the city bar association’s lawyers assistance program is a tremendous resource. Just call the number and they’ll get back to you even if I’m a few days. She had a lists of therapists that commonly see attorneys and was even able to narrow down a few for me based on my firms insurance carrier. Life saver.
Highly recommend using Headway - you pop in your insurance and it provides in-network providers. I found my therapist this way (he’s in NYC but we do zoom) and have been very satisfied. Best of luck!
I’ve tried therapy a couple times before and it never really worked out. I have no problem finding qualified therapists, it’s just finding one that’s the right fit for me. Do people go to multiple therapists until they find the right one? I feel like one session isn’t really enough to know. And then say you do 3 sessions and you realize it’s not a good fit and you’ve wasted time, have to rehash your background with some new person, and are exhausted.

Just NYC or NJ also?

It actually does. Some states won’t allow therapists to treat out of state patients. I learned this recently when looking for a therapist and it was very frustrating.
If you are in a PsyPact state, consider therapists in other PsyPact states (I believe 30+ states have signed on). You can have teletherapy sessions without being geographically bound. It’s hard to find the right fit so it’s good to have options. It’s mainly trial and error.
