Hi IBM sharks 🦈
So I got interviewed for a project by the IBM team. The interviewer told me that its a go ahead from their end, now the client will assess my profile and if they too are fine with it, I will be onboarded?
Is it true that we have client interview as well? If yes then after how many days of interview by IBM team, client interview takes place?
Or its just that if the IBM team is fine with it, we are selected for the project?
Any inputs on this will really help :)

You don’t. Unless the client is abusive, harassing, discriminatory, etc., in which case you should tell the partner right away. Otherwise, we can’t always work with easy clients but our job is still to give them the best legal advice we can, but we can’t control whether they take it.
The only time I did it as an associate was when the client was getting subpar service because I was too busy, and I was concerned it would be a relationship issue for the firm. I told the partner that I was concerned that the client was not getting the responsiveness and attention that they deserved and pointed to the other high-profile matters I was working on (with equally as powerful or more powerful partners). I suggested someone else that could take over, and we ultimately presented it to the client that way “we want you to feel like you are getting adequate attention and responsiveness. here’s a different team lead for you who is just as good, and your previous contact at the firm will continue to stay involved but will take more of a backseat role.” It was a delicate situation but the client ultimately didn’t care because they got an associate who was frankly better and willing to work harder than I was.
So let me get this straight. You want to tell the partner you can’t work on this client anymore because it “won’t take your career to the next level” but there’s nobody else to do the work so you would effectively be dumping the work on the partner to do by themselves? Let us know how that works out for you.
Then say that. Just tell the partner you’re very underwater and if possible would like to transition the work on this client to another associate. If the partner says no, then there’s your answer and you just got to suck it up.

You could take your career to the next level by gracefully exiting the firm. Until then, you’re stuck on this client unless you can get so busy working for other partners who will protect your time when this client’s stuff comes up, or another associate is available to “service the client.”
The client being disorganized isn’t a legitimate reason to ask to roll off. Reading between the lines here, you don’t think the client is sexy enough to be worth your time, and that’s also not a legitimate reason to roll off. Firms are full of unsexy clients and you’d better get used to that.

Then keep billing them aggressively and complaining to service partner about why you need to do so until relationship partner gets sick of them and fires them
