How do you guys deal with Monster in Laws? My mother in law is super critical (and honestly just nasty) to my husband and is constantly undermining his parenting and his general relationship with his daughter. It’s super damaging and sad and I hugely resent her for it.... feeling really depressed and down about the situation. Any and all advice is welcome

You need to love your husband out, and build him up where she has broken him and give him back the confidence that she has taken. Why do you don’t talk about this part but after you’re married my mother-in-law don’t hold as much weight as a wife does your first so in a non-confrontational way I would stick up for mine and let her know that we got this.

I had the same issue with my MIL thinking she could ‘rule’ in my house. I quickly confronted her and said we are not going to operate this way. Our marriage is ours and you are not going to rule here. It has been a constant struggle. My husband finally stood up for himself and told them (both parents) that his family comes first and to deal with it. It was certainly a process for him to get there. We will be married 20 years next year. My kids now do not really like being around them so the child will quickly figure it out on their own. I also read a book about in laws and how to handle them.

My husband has a saying for my MIL and my mom: “y’all keep doing that and we’ll limit our relationship with you to Christmas and birthday cards.” Works every time.

Thanks all this is helpful!!! My MIL insisted on flying across the country this past weekend in the middle of COVID to “celebrate thanksgiving” at our home (I obviously didn’t invite her) and within a day she was asking my 4 year old if ‘she even still believed in Santa Claus’.... (I’m obviously still mad about it 😂) needless to say I was incredibly cold to her for the rest of the trip but I honestly cannot even believe some of the stuff that comes out of her mouth. I can either not talk to her, or actually scream in her face, so right now I’m choosing the lesser of two evils but I know this isn’t a great long term solution....

Boundaries. You have to tell her no.

I’m “high risk” (36 years old), have a bilobed placenta (placenta separated into two near equal- sized lobes) but baby is healthy and docs have expressed no concerns. Yet they want to schedule an induction at 40 weeks- I’m 39 weeks now. I have a doc appointment tomorrow but just wondering if this would be considered a medical reason for an induction. I’ve had no signs of labor so thinking, should I just schedule it?... 🤔

Hey Moms! Looking to start a family. Two factors (1) I'm turning 30 next year and (2) I'll be a 2nd year SC up for M in S&O. Any tips on timing? Do you know of anyone who has been pregnant their promotion year?

Anyone under 30 had a diagnostic mammo and it was negative? Doc found suspicious lump yesterday and mammo tomorrow. Lump is hard, asymmetrical and one side only. It was not there a month ago. 27 with family history of BRCAII (parent died of cancer + had mutation). Fam keeps telling me it’s nothing but hard not to be anxious.

What challenges have you faced before/after maternity leave? I would also appreciate any advice on what to do to minimize the impact while somehow maintain the balance.

I teach at a small school that has been f2f hybrid all year. It's so exhausting because I never know what to expect bc the students come in some days and stay home other days without notice. For example, I have one kid who goes between mom and dad's house. Mom keeps him at home, dad doesn't believe in covid.
