How do you handle a "What is your salary expectation?" question?

Does pretty much every company require you to fight for raises in order to keep up with market value or are there companies that exist who are good about paying you your worth? If so, which companies are good at this?

Travel on a Sunday is the worst...there really should be some sort of compensation for being made to do this or how about a f#%king "thank you" for giving up your Sunday for the firm...

I have an offer to go in-house. Mid $300s base with 10% cash bonus. No equity. Job is 8:30-6 by all accounts. I thought it was a good offer but am now seeing people post in here about in house roles paying into the $500s and then there is my big law salary that with all the raises is currently at $400k and I am questioning whether this offer is still as good as I thought. Maybe I’m being delusional? Help!

Is 28LPA good salary for 5 years of experience?

I am a third year and I set really strict boundaries. I make it a practice to not worry about work. I’m always available when I need to be but I NEVER ask for work and I never hit billables (although I’m at a firm w guaranteed bonus). Even when I’m at 0 hours for a week straight I won’t ask for work. Does anyone else do this? FWIW I’ve gotten good reviews/like the people I work w and I think they like me.

My discussions with HR goes like this: HR: blah blah blah.... Me: blah blah blah..... HR: what are your expectations? Me: i have 5 yrs work experience and have handled multiple roles and responsibilities, so I expect around 12-13 LPA HR: Woaah! We can't give that much hike, on current CTC 6LPA. Industry standard is 30-50% hike. Me: Sure, i will agree on that if you agree that i should switch within 1-2 years of joining because thats the industry standard as well! Awkward silence and beep..!

Just got a note from ex colleague - they are being asked to provide Vaccine status information - if you dont comply - you will be receiving a decrease of 10% performance pay.
