How do you handle getting blamed for something that‘s not your fault? The (more senior) other associate on my team botched a brief but the partner blames me even though I didn’t write it

Just accept it say it won't happen again and then move on.

Most of the time the partners dont even care who was to blame as long as someone gets yelled at they are happy lol

It sucks when things go badly, but solidarity feels awesome. Once, due to other urgent matters I didn’t send a draft to the senior associate until a few days after the partner asked for it. The partner chased us on it the next day, and the senior and I responded simultaneously: he said “junior sent it to me and I am reviewing” and I said “apologies but I only sent it to senior yesterday” so it was clear that both a) senior protected me even though he didn’t need to and b) I was willing to take responsibility that the delay originated with me.

Yeah, that’s what I did here. Not going to throw anyone under the bus. But sucks to get a lecture like that when it was out of my control

I have a more senior person who I’m pretty sure uses me (junior-mid) as a shield for their own insecurity. I have to draft every email response, even if it’s not addressed to me. It seems as if this person wants any few emails as possible from them. They will call me, sometimes dictate the response and tell me to send, which I find makes such little sense (I understand doing not here or there, but it does seem to happen when they are more “unsure” of what they are doing. When things have blown up because I’ve gotten some bad advice from my senior, they don’t seem anywhere to be found to say”sorry I had told them that.” It’s pretty damn demoralizing.

Sorry to hear that. I get a bit of that, too. It’s frustrating! The problem is I actually like this senior, but this situation has really upset me.

Honest question for people who choose to speak out against protests and riots but not about a man dying. Why is the one message or post you decide to make is about a riot? Why is that what causes you enough discomfort to speak out? All people are asking is that at the very least, you use the exact same amount of time and effort to speak out on the racial injustices and police brutality in America. I’m interested in HEALTHY dialogue. I’m open to learning what the other side is thinking.

Wise 🐠 out there, I need some guidance. When do you draw the line at work that it is not you but it’s the environment that is toxic? To name a few, I am working with project team that are not so responsible and delegate their administrative work all the time which I end up taking because I want this project to succeed. No clear guidance or direction from management yet expecting to produce. I am anxious, can’t sleep and angry all the time. I’d hate to be a whiner but when do you draw the line?
