Looking for feedback for a Project Management Platform for SMBs, freelancers and Founders
Hi! A friend recently launched a Project Management software called Heycollab - I think it’s pretty cool and like the UI but I’d love to get more feedback - they’re very passionate about the product and would appreciate the help!

Start by exploring options within your project.
If you find something you like: Have a 1on1 with project manager and say that you really want to work your way into “xxxx” team. Bring up that you will train your replacement. Then be patient and persistent. Typically you’re brought into a project to do a role so it won’t be instant. But start studying/learning about the other team and what they do to show that you want to move. Keep pressure on the ask.
If you like something outside your project: tell your manager but also have a 1on1 with leadership that is above project leadership, typically your sector or group across multiple projects. Be honest that you are looking at other roles in the firm because career growth/interest etc. Ask them how they can help you transition over to another project by again, training your replacement and learning what you need to, so you can move. Be patient and persistent about this.
If false promises are made then when you ultimately leave, they’ll know why. But I’m 5 years in and this has worked for me every time. Patience is the key. If you have good leadership, they’ll understand where you’re coming from because everyone has been in your shoes.
“Hi, I’m interested in learning more about [blah blah blah].” Honestly depends on the management if they will follow through with your professional/personal development. Old manager would say he would see what he could do but never did anything. For the new practice I transferred into, the manager and practice leader have openly stated they are in it for my long term professional growth even if I choose to leave the firm entirely.
Frame it in a way that’s less about what you don’t like about what you’re currently doing and more about how you’ve established xyz skillet and would like to grow your expertise in xyz industry as well. Ask about exploring opps on the current project to help you prepare for that and if they have suggestions for gaining more exposure to that area.
