Just scheduled a meeting to go over an offer for a Senior Engineer role. When asked what I would need to make in order to leave my current job, I said at least $160k depending on benefits (I know I shouldn't have given a number).
I make a little over $145k now, plus stock options, a monthly home office stipend (fully remote), and your usual health benefits.
Assuming their benefits are comparable to my current position, have I given up all negotiation power by providing the initial number?

Oh, good call
I agree on Kaiser.
I also follow lots of healthy policy experts, economists, and journalists who tend to post the latest news, thought pieces, articles, and other developments.
I should've specified I follow them on twitter and read the links, blogs, articles, etc. they post 😂 These tend to be people I've met at conferences or authors of pieces I've found interesting, not random twitter accounts.
I do like Dean Baker and CEPR a lot. I don't agree with Avik Roy much, but I still read his work too. And Dan Diamond is one of the journalists/reporters I like for health policy.
And if you want to go full pro google top 10 FDA law law firms and get on the FDA law and Medicare newsletter you'll get plenty of news

Any international recommendations? (Great question, OP)
@D1 are you looking europe? East asia? Etc
If you are not following the legislation then you are behind the curve... waiting for someone else’s newsletter is a very poor practice.
@PWC1...I don't know what you think this is post is about as I'm asking how you follow the legislation.
Presumably you aren't glued to c-span all day or literally in the house/senate as things are decided... So you have to get that information from somewhere
Imo, it's poor practice to judge someone's good faith attempt at improving.
