It’s time for me to move on from my back office/CBS job at EY. I’ve been able to get through to recruiter and hiring manager screening round with FAANG employers and some tech companies but never beyond that. How can I differentiate myself when I’m probably also up against our client facing colleagues in consulting. I have about 12 years experience (7 at EY doing the same thing).

Sounds like you don’t want a new job, that’s fine

You applied to only one place and are already exhausted? Op, respectfully you’re going to need more perseverance than that if you’re giving up after one rejection.
Take a week or two off. Apply to 1-3 roles a day, and then enjoy the rest of your time off.

Yup I’m like 0 for 20 but learn something new each time
Well, wanting to be able to afford rent, food, and enjoy myself tend to keep me motivated. Also, wanting to progress in my career, learn new skills and meet new people.
The first few hurt the most. Once you get into the rhythm of applying to 5/day you really stop giving af. Just keep sending it.
Use that rejection to motivate you to try harder and go beyond the basic application process. E.g. reach out to ppl in your network, cold call on linked in, set up informational sessions.
Thanks for your comments everyone - very helpful! I wanted to rephrase - I only applied to this position because it was a company I was very interested in and I got through all 8 interviews (mostly spot cases and prepared presentations). Final round was Friday & didn’t get an offer today. Had a tough time balancing interview prep and my current job. I also have a PharmD but love consulting so I have limited options.
The first one you try is tough because you really want it, anticipate, and put a lot of weight into it.
-Take breaks
-Don't get caught up in the chase or the flattery.
-Make sure you're really specific about your goals for anew role. Consider is it money, role expansion, benefits, etc. then focus on strictly on those factors.
