How do you know how much debt you can take on? I have several milestones to reach such as saving for marriage, saving for a baby, saving for a down payment and also want to take a debt of 40-50K for my parents. I earn 130K and wanted to know how to plan to see I’m saving enough for myself and timelines I can give to be able to meet these goals?

Still need more context, but I suspect you are already saving. Keep saving more, audit your subscriptions, see where you can reduce your bills, etc. Personal recommendation, will trying to spend the minimum possible on "wedding".

My husband yells at me in front of my 2 years old, even when he is scared. He needs to express his anger out before he can shut down. I am planning to leave him but I am hesitant because I am afraid this would negatively impact my son more, not having a father figure around much.... not the first time, my husband promises multiple time that at least he would control his anger in front of kid but never Lee up the promise...sometimes he would even throw stuff (not at me and my child)...

Neither my husband nor I are good with change and when my husband and I went for the ultrasound he nervously asked "she's too sick to eat anything other than her vitamins and water, is it ok for her and the baby to go without?" Our doctor just smiled and replied "don't worry, baby takes" I don't know why but that was so funny to us. It kind of became our mantra as we navigate and move our life around that "baby takes," its made it feel more Us vs Change rather than Me vs Him. Thought I'd share

What short-term trades are you making through the rest of the year (close position by 12/31)?

I’m moving from the U.S. to Canada in a couple months. Where are the best places to live in the Greater Toronto Area, especially as it relates to good schools for a child and a fairly decent community?

A lot of folks, this bowl included, are getting a reality check at the moment, which i think is good for learning experiences. Can’t call yourself an “investor” but the second you see a position fall +20-30% start to question or panic sell. However, if this is you, and your equity position was initiated off a whim or a blind recommendation, I struggle to feel any sympathy lol especially if you were someone buying stocks (MGNI for example) when they were approaching ATH

Perspective requested.
10 mths ago i was talking to an acquaintance (lives in IN, same age late 20s) and they were having a baby. I expressed my congratulations and during the convo said something like, ‘…here i can’t bring myself to adopt a pup and you’re prepared for such a big responsibility’. Everything’s cool.
Present: (randomly) they remind me of this and say they understood my intent but want to teach me that I was culturally inappropriate.

I posted here some months back about my ectopic pregnancies but today, I'm posting to tell you all to hang in there and God will do it for you. (Please don't insult me of you don't believe in God because I strongly do).
In a nut shell, we had baby #1 without trying. Started trying for #2 and over 2 years, I had 4 miscarriages and 2 ectopics. In July, my doc informed me that the only way forward was through IVF. I was tired and confused. I PRAYED! and continued trying. (The rest in the comments.)

Does anyone know if we can reimburse expenses for items listed in Wageworks while on maternity?

I know we cannot expense phone/internet/ commuter benefit as I am not actively doing work.

However, for other items that fall under wage works reimbursement, I couldn’t find anything in writing yet.

For current GSAPers - was the maximum amount allowed with Federal loans enough to see you through your MBA? The living expenses estimate looks sorta low to me

I'm 16 weeks pregnant (1st time). My office (in NYC) is re-starting back to work in 2 weeks. I previously had an exemption for fertility treatments as exemptions were given for any medical reason. Now there are no more exemptions being given & I would need to request one from my LoB head.

I have a new team whom I have never met & if I don't go back now, I wont see them until Dec. I am boosted but my commute is about an hour including bus ride & a 25 min walk each way. What would you do?

I heard someone make a bold statement that contributing to a traditional 401k versus a Roth 401k were the exact same assuming the same tax rate. I ran the numbers and to my surprise they were not wrong (even considering the earnings). Can anyone explain why a Roth would ever make sense given that income will likely be lower and therefore lower tax rate in retirement?
